The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

September 2, 2014 saw the dedication of a beautiful Julia Child yellow rose planted in the Wahkiakum Community Garden in Erickson Park in memory of the late Pat Reese, a longtime member of the local Woman's Club, an avid gardener, and a well-known active member of our community. Here a plant spike is placed in her honor by her husband, Larry Reese, and former garden coordinator Linda Hartung. Pat passed away Dec. 31, 2013, and her many roses were donated to the Woman's Club and the Wahkiakum Community Garden by Larry. A tour of the gardens was offered to the Woman's Club members during an enjoyable picnic/barbecue with friends and members of the Community Gardens. Fresh steelhead donated by Jean Burnham, and fresh tuna donated by Dianne Froode were grilled and served along with potluck items from all. Contributed by Joyce Orr; photo by Jean Burnham.
