Cross Country teams busy with meets

The Wahkiakum Mule and Thomas Middle School Warrior cross country season has been underway since September 9. They’ve got five meets under their belts so far.

Here are the last two:

The team traveled to Cascade Peaks for the Fast and Flat meet on September 25.

Seventh grader Ted Stacey placed fourth among his peers with a time of 9:42 in a 2,500 meter race.

Representing the high school boys in the 5,000 meter race, Elliott Haney took 37th place with a time of 20.17.5, Nevan Bingham placed 44th with a time of 20:41 and Luke Stacey placed 49th with a time of 21:01.

For the girls, Mya Kirzy took 19th place with a time of 23:21, Shona Heywood took 31st with a time of 25:41, Aly Kirzy took 35th place with a time of 26:02, Samantha Boyce placed 37th with a time of 26:26, Jessica Thomas took 39th with a time of 26.32 and Kyrah Scuito placed 48th with a time of 33:00.

On September 23, the team traveled to Rochester for the Evergreen League Meet.

For the middle school, Ted Stacey ran 1.5 miles in 10:05.

In the 5,000 meter high school run, Luke Stacey placed 30th with a time of 21:17.26. Haney finished the race in 32nd place with a time of 21:19.74 and Bingham took 44th with a time of 22:09.39.

For the girls, Mya Kirzy placed 14th with a time of 24:06.56, followed by Boyce who finished 19th with a time of 25:44.2. Shona Heywood took 23rd with a time of 27:04.16 and Aly Kirzy placed 24th with a 27:57.33. Rory Heywood placed 26th with a time of 30:02.53 and Scuito finished in 29th place with a time of 32.59.83.

The cross country team travels to Ilwaco for the Joe Williams Black Trail Invite today (Thursday).
