Sheriff's Report, February 18, 2016

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

February 8 — 10:10 a.m. An individual dropped off a wallet that had been found at a restroom near a lake in Pierce County. 12:29 p.m. Adult Protective Services alerted the sheriff’s office that a report had come in about a vulnerable adult. They had reviewed the matter and did not consider the person to be vulnerable.

February 9 — 12:41 a.m. A Puget Island resident complained that a neighbor had jumped a fence and was trespassing on his property. Contacted by a deputy nine hours later, the resident asked why a deputy had not responded when he had called. The neighbor denied the allegation when confronted by the deputy. He was advised not to be on the property without approval from the property owner. 12:40 p.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on a Rosburg road. 2:49 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested that deputies drive past her home regularly in case her ex-boyfriend came by to pick up his belongings. She did not want him on her property unless she was there. 10:06 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with chest pain.

February 10 — 10:47 a.m. A caller reported possible child abuse at a Skamokawa home. 6 p.m. A Deep River resident reported an assault.

February 11 — 10:23 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home.

February 12 — 9:00 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident. 11:24 a.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident. 2:17 p.m. A Puget Island resident complained that loud music was being played all day and all night in a neighbor’s barn. The caller was advised that a noise ordinance had not been adopted by the county. 10:45 p.m. The District 4 Fire Department responded to the report of a wood stove issuing hot smoke at an Elochoman Valley home.

February 13 — 7:22 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded to the report of an illegal burn at a Beaver Creek residence. The caller said it smelled like plastic and other toxic materials were burning. 7:51 a.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance and District 4 Fire Department responded to a rollover accident in the Elochoman Valley. The driver was not there when they arrived, and the vehicle was towed. 10 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained that a sheep that did not belong to him was on his property. He said the sheep belonged to someone on Puget Island. 10:25 a.m. A caller reported an illegal burn at a Beaver Creek address. The caller complained that it smelled like plastic and toxic materials were burning. 11 a.m. A caller reported a prowler in the Little Cape Horn area.

February 14 — 12:25 p.m. A tree was down and blocking SR 4 just west of Skamokawa. 1:38 p.m. A caller complained about being followed too closely by another driver on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 4:01 p.m. An Elochman Valley resident reported hearing shots nearby. 8:35 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in the Rosburg area. 9:40 p.m. A deputy investigated when an alarm was activated at a structure on KM. Everything was secure.

February 15 — 12:32 a.m Deputies responded when a third party reported a domestic disturbance at a Cathlamet residence. One individual was taken into custody.
