March 17, 2016



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 7 — 6:22 a.m. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded when a caller reported that a fire had resumed at a home in Skamokawa. 7:11 a.m. Deputies were asked to check on the site of a recent fire in Skamokawa throughout the day. 8:37 a.m. A caller complained about a pitbull running loose in the Elochoman Valley. 9:41 a.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle on Puget Island. 10:38 a.m. An alarm was activated in Cathlamet. 10:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident complaining of chest pain. 11:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with a possible blood clot. 12:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with chest pain. 6:06 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.

March 8 — 6:58 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with chest pain. 12:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident with a possible broken arm. 2:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an ailing clinic patient to the hospital. 7:25 p.m. A tree was down on a Deep River road. The county road department was notified. 7:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident. 10:41 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4 just east of Rosedale.

March 9 — 9:43 a.m. An Alger Creek resident with dementia was reported missing. She was later located at a Rosedale business. 2:38 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with abdominal pain to the hospital. 3:42 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that there were two cows in her yard. The owner was notified. 8:46 p.m. Deputies and the Grays River ambulance responded to the report of an accident in the Rosburg area. A beer can was found in the vehicle but no one was around. A deputy searched the area and did not find anyone.

March 10 — 1:53 a.m. Puget Island was without power. Some residences in the Rosedale area, on Greenwood Road and in Deep River lost power as well. A caller reported that a tree was down and in power lines in Cathlamet. The PUD was notified. 2:01 a.m. A caller reported high water over several roads in the Westend. 1:12 p.m. A caller reported being harassed by a man who would not leave his work site. 2:56 p.m. A credit card was found and brought to the sheriff’s office. It was shredded at the request of the issuing company. 3:58 p.m. A caller requested assistance after being locked out of his vehicle at a Skamokawa business. 6:28 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that her dog had been attacked by a pitbull two weeks earlier.

March 11 — 8:32 a.m. A caller reported that someone had broken into the Wahkiakum substation. A PUD representative indicated that there had not been a break in; someone had backed into the fence. 1:14 p.m. A caller reported that four pigs were in his yard in the Rosedale area. 2:24 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported hearing a loud explosion or a gun shot. 5:16 p.m. A Puget island resident reported that they had been hearing loud explosions, possibly gun fire, for the last three weeks.

March 12 — 7:15 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address. 10:17 a.m. A caller complained about two squatters who would not leave a Rosburg residence. 2:13 p.m. A caller complained about frequent speeders on a Puget Island road. 2:24 p.m. A caller reported that guns had been stolen from an address on the east end of the county. 2:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident. 2:52 p.m. A caller reported two dogs wandering loose around a Cathlamet neighborhood.

March 13 — 6:52 a.m. A caller reported two trees down on Beaver Creek Road. Another caller reported that someone had crashed into one of the trees; no injuries were reported. The county road department was notified. 12:16 p.m. A tree was down and power was out in the Westend and the Skamokawa area. The PUD was notified. 2:17 p.m. A resident on the east end of the county reported that she had spoken with a neighbor after his dogs were seen running loose on her property. She said that her neighbor had been hostile. A deputy spoke with the man who admitted that his dogs had been on the caller’s property. He said that he intended to put in a fence. 3:12 p.m. Power was out in the Skamokawa area. 7:35 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.
