Nurse delegation classes to be held

March 24, 2016

Registered or Certified Nursing Assistants and Home Care Aides can now attend Nurse Delegation (9 CEUs) and Nurse Delegation for Diabetics (3 CEUs) as a self-study course at the Care Careers Academy.

Classes will be held Monday, April 4. One or both of these classes can be taken by contacting the school and checking out a Nurse Delegation book and CD, and returning it in one week’s time to take a review test for certification. The test is administered by a State Approved Registered Nurse.

Delegated tasks include administration of prescription medications, catheter care, and wound care, working under the direction of an RN and physician approved plan of care. The diabetic training includes diabetic education and how to perform blood glucose testing and insulin injections.

Persons attending this class can then work in Assisted Living Facilities, Adult Family Homes, and In-Home Care where delegation is often performed.
