Volunteers invited for refuge tree planting

March 24, 2016

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has invited the public to join them at the Julia Butler Hansen Refuge for the Columbian White-tailed Deer this Friday to help cut stakes from existing trees and plant them in new locations around the refuge.

This volunteer opportunity gives the public an opportunity to help improve habitat for deer and other species by providing browse, forage and cover. It also cuts down on costs for the refuge.

Volunteers should dress for the weather and plan to be at the refuge office on Friday, March 25, at 8:30 a.m. Supplies will be provided.

For more information, call 360-795-3915 or visit http://www.fws.gov/refuge/julia_butler_hansen.
