April 21, 2016



Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 11 — 8:56 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was confused and whose arms were cold and numb. 10:29 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that he had loaned his truck to an individual he later learned did not have a license. He was also concerned that the individual had acquired several axes while using the truck. 5:37 p.m. A caller reported a child riding an ATV on an Elochoman Valley road. 7:31 p.m. A juvenile was reported missing from a Puget Island home. The individual was later found in Longview.

April 12 — 10:17 a.m.The Cathlamet ambulance transported a Cathlamet clinic patient with a rapid heart beat to the hospital. 12:32 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle heading west on SR 4 at 100 mph in the Elochoman Valley area.

April 13 — 12:29 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that an ex-girlfriend had stopped by his home and made threats. He was advised to call back if she returned. 9:35 a.m. A caller reported that a juvenile at a Cathlamet school was upset. The student had overturned garbage cans and left the property. A deputy was able to locate the student. 3:40 p.m. A caller reported that a tree was blocking both lanes of a Rosburg road. The county road department was notified. 4:49 p.m. A caller reported that a tree branch was hanging really low over an Elochoman Valley road. Dispatch attempted to contact the county road department. 7:46 p.m. A caller reported that a cow was loose on a Puget Island road. 7:49 p.m. A caller reported that an individual who believed that the sheriff’s office would help him if he got stranded here had threatened to cause trouble if he could not get a ride out of town. 9:16 p.m. A deputy advised an individual who was walking on the wrong side of SR 4 and slowing traffic near Cathlamet. The deputy also suggested a place that would allow the individual to get out of the rain.

April 14 — 3:10 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported hearing three loud explosions a few minutes before he called. 3:52 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. A deputy reported that everything was secure. 4:40 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. 10:09 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle at an abandoned home in the Alger Creek area. 12:29 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that he was being harassed.

April 15 — 8:18 a.m. Deputies responded when a vehicle went into a ditch on an Elochoman Valley road. The driver believed that she may have fallen asleep. A tow was requested. 1:44 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having breathing issues and needed her oxygen hooked up. 2:31 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that an individual had been seen trespassing on her property. 4:03 p.m. A caller reported that some food items had been stolen from his business in Cathlamet. 6:53 p.m. A representative from the mental health department responded when a caller reported that an individual was threatening to commit suicide at a local beach.

April 16 — 10:39 a.m. A caller in Cathlamet was concerned about a man slumped over his steering wheel. 12:42 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious individual looking into mailboxes along SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 3:46 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with an oxygen tank.

April 17 — 12:17 a.m. A caller complained about two individuals she had hired to remodel her Cathlamet home. She had allowed the couple from Longview to stay in her home, but when she left town in December they allegedly moved in, did little work and left a mess. The homeowner offered to pay for a hotel room for the two for the night, which the woman accepted. The man was seen hiding in the bushes before he ran away from deputies. 2:17 a.m. A Cathlamet business reported a dispute over payment. 4:25 a.m. A caller reported that she was being harassed by a homeowner in Cathlamet. 5:22 a.m. A caller reported a vehicle with no lights had a flat tire in the middle of SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 11:58 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. A deputy found everything secure. 2:30 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident when his medical alarm was activated. 2:41 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Rosburg resident. 5:01 p.m. A deputy attempted to pursue an individual on a motorcycle who was heading eastbound on SR 4 at more than 90 mph. 6:05 p.m. A deputy responded to an accident on a Deep River road. The vehicle was partially blocking the road and was towed to the owner’s home. 7:48 p.m. The PUD was notified when a caller reported that a cable was hanging low in the Deep River area. The caller said the cable anchor was broken. 8:14 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing an explosion. A deputy made contact with the caller who said that he had been hearing the explosion about once a week. The deputy told the caller that without a more precise location or consistent noise, he could not take action. 8:46 p.m. A caller was worried about juveniles driving ATVs at high speeds up and down an Elochoman Valley road.

April 18 — 5:36 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Deep River residence. A deputy responded and found everything secure.
