Robert Kerstetter

 


Robert Wayne Kerstetter, lifelong Cathlamet resident, died on his 68th birthday, in Vancouver,WA. Bob was born to G.R. and Mildred (Swanson) Kerstetter on April 27, 1948 in Longview.

He graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1966 and attended Yakima Valley College and WSU. In 1972 he began a long career in the grocery business when he went to work for Doumit’s Grocery. He bought the business in 1975 and it became Bob’s Market which he owned until 1992. After selling the market he opened BJ’s Restaurant in Cathlamet, which he owned for four years. He then worked at the Elochoman Marina prior to his retirement.

In younger years, Bob enjoyed hunting with friends, cooking, and supporting the Mules athletics. He loved time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children Robbie Kerstetter, Melissa Herrlinger and Jennifer Kerstetter, two sisters, Linda Miller and Susie Patching, five grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Cimino.

A funeral service will be held at the UCC (Congregational) Church in Cathlamet on Friday May 6 at 11:00 a.m., with interment to follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet. In lieu of flowers those who wish to may donate to Cemetery District #1 Greenwood in Bob’s name at P.O. Box 122 Cathlamet, WA 98612. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
