Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past two weeks, including:

January 16 — 2:48 p.m. A Skamokawa resident reported that 20 of his neighbor’s cows were on his property. 6:27 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle.

January 17 — 8:55 a.m. A caller reported that someone was trespassing on his property in the Elochoman Valley. 9:25 a.m. A caller reported that a neighbor’s pit bull had come onto his property and bitten his dog in October. 10:08 a.m. A caller reported a dead cow in a Grays River field. The owner was contacted. He reported that WDFW was already investigating because some calves had been mauled, possibly by a cougar. 11:04 a.m. A caller reported a possible scam when her home was listed for an incorrect price on a realty website. 4:26 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale home. 4:32 p.m. A caller reported small branches and rocks in both lanes of SR 4 near Nassa Point. 4:40 p.m. A caller reported that a large tree had fallen onto SR 4, blocking both lanes of traffic in the Little Cape Horn area. One lane opened at 7:42 p.m. 9:42 p.m. Power was out at an east county home. The PUD was notified. Power was restored an hour later.

January 18 — 2:54 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 just west of Nassa Point. 7:09 a.m. Eden Valley Road was closed at the two mile mark due to high water. 9 a.m. A caller reported that there were large rocks on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 4:33 p.m. A caller reported that there was a person shooting in the day use area of County Line Park. Two deputies responded. 6:09 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. The sheriff’s office attempted to contact a responsible person, but there was no response. 9:22 p.m. An individual was taken into custody after a vehicle stop.

January 19 — 10:41 a.m. A caller reported a shoplifter at a Cathlamet business. 1:57 p.m. An injured eagle was seen at Wages Hole on the Elochoman River. 5:02 p.m. A caller reported that a tree had come down and knocked out power in the Rosburg area. The PUD was notified. 5:51 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had been taken by his ex-wife. 9:09 p.m. The caller who reported that a vehicle had been taken by his ex-wife said that she was not involved. It had been hot wired, he said. Eventually, it turned out that the vehicle was taken by the owner. The caller requested that the person who had taken the vehicle from his property be charged with trespass if he returned.

January 20 — 8:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who had suffered an aortic aneurysm to the hospital. 1:48 p.m. Child Protective Services and the mental health department were notified when a caller reported that a Rosburg youth was trying to run away. The child was taken to her custodial mother. 6:31 p.m. A caller reported that a door was open at the Health and Human Services office in the Elochoman Valley.

January 21 — 4:41 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that a neighbor was dumping trash and parking on his property. 6:22 p.m. A Deep River resident said that the neighbors were upset when they came home and found her husband working by their fence. The caller said that the man ran in his house and when he came back out it sounded like he was cocking a gun. 10:49 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that her boyfriend had started a fight after coming home drunk.

January 22 — 4:29 a.m. A caller reported two intruders at a Puget Island home. At 4:51, the caller said that two people were trespassing at a rental property and no one appeared to be in danger. 10:43 a.m. An individual stopped by the sheriff’s office to ask if a deputy might look at what he thought might be a bullet hole in a family member’s vehicle. 12:01 p.m. A caller from a Rosedale store reported that an intoxicated driver was getting gas. The individual was taken into custody. 2:26 p.m. A Deep River resident involved in a land dispute wanted a report on file after a neighbor moved a trailer, just in case there was damage. 8:18 p.m. A caller reported that a convicted felon in the Rosedale area had a firearm in his possession. 8:47 p.m. A caller reported rocks on SR 4 in the Nassa Point area.
