Valentine smorgasbord to be held this Sunday

Down River Dispatches

February 9, 2017

Snow, snow and a little more snow. It was beautiful to look at, but treacherous to drive in for many. Lots of trees and big branches down which also caused some distraction for a few. I would like to say a huge thank you to our county crews for all their hard work and for probably losing a bit of sleep in order to keep things running smooth. I know I won’t drive in it if I don’t have to, but many folks have to get to work, and without your crews keeping the roads clear, that would not be possible. Thank you.

This year’s Annual Valentine Smorgasbord and silent auction event sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Deep River Post #111 will take place this Sunday in the Naselle High School Commons from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Ticket prices are extremely reasonable for adults and teens at $12, for pre-teens at $6 and children under six for $2 for all the delicious salads and main dishes you can try. Top that all off with some of the best home made pies and cakes anywhere in the county.

Check out the silent auction items, and open your wallet for a great cause that benefits local veterans, scholarships and youth needs in our own community.

The Grays River Cafe has changed its hours to be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come on in and check out their delicious menu, great service and delicious food at reasonable prices.

The Rosburg Wednesday Senior Lunch Bunch meets in the Rosburg Hall every week for a home cooked lunch that is prepared by Pat Potter and her volunteers. She takes good care of our local seniors even when she is not 100 percent. Thank you Pat, for all you do.

On Thursdays a senior meal is also delivered and served at the Rosburg Hall and is sponsored by CAP. They are also to be commended for all they do for our senior community. Lunch is served at both venues at noon.

Happy Birthday to the following this week: Lindsay Hunt, Abbie Laine, Leo Saari, Ed Hunt, Mary Saari, Margrit Engelson, Sherril Hartline, Frieda Footh and Emma May Sue Fauver. Wishing each of you a very special and wonderful day.
