The Wahkiakum High School track team joined four other schools in Kalama last Thursday for their first Class 2B meet of the season.

The Mule girls and boys teams placed third and fifth, respectively. The girls finished with 78 points and the boys finished with 14.

Mule girls garnered five first place wins in the track and field events.

Junior Macie Elliott won the 400 meters with a time of 1:04.08. Freshman Teylor Sauer took first in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 19.53. Junior Mckensi Fluckiger won the long jump with a leap of 14-08 and junior Ellie Leitz took first place in the triple jump with a distance of 30-08.5. The 4 x 400 relay team of Sauer, Charlie Ashe, Leitz, and Elliott came in first with a time of 4:36.69.

Leitz also took second place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:42.38. Ashe finished the high jump in second place, clearing 4-06. Fluckiger was number two in the triple jump with a distance of 29-10. Sauer placed second in the long jump, clearing 13-07, and freshman Laila Abdul-Kariem finished in third place with a distance of 13-02.

Abdul-Kariem took fourth place in the 100 meter race with a time of 14.73. Elliott had a fourth place finish in the discus with a distance of 82-06. The 4x200 relay team of Abdul-Kariem, Fluckiger, Ashe, and Elliott took second place with a time of 1:56.52.

Junior Quentin Nelson led the boys. He took second place in the long jump with a distance of 17-07 and fifth in the discus event with a throw of 88-07. He also took fourth place in the 100 meters with a time of 12.73.

Freshman Braxton Johns took third place in the 800 meters with a time of 2:28.10. Freshman Tucker Thomas leaped 28-11 in the triple jump for a fifth place finish. Junior Daniel Dennison ran the 100 meters in 12.94 for sixth place.

The Mules are hosting their only home meet of the season today (Thursday), 3:30 p.m.
