Early in the season, the Wahkiakum Mules volleyball team is struggling to find its rhythm after three losses this week.

Senior Ellie Leitz puts the ball into play against Morton/White Pass. The Lady Mules will get a chance to avenge their loss to the Timberwolves on Tuesday.

"Standouts were my bench with a selfless performance tonight," Coach Kayli Hurley said. "Also Ellie Leitz and Macie Elliott scored nine kills apiece with Jansi Merz right behind racking up six kills."

On Monday, the team traveled to Naselle and lost in four sets, 23-25, 18-25, 25-18, and 17-25.

"Charlie Ashe and Solana Stanley had a great defensive match across the board," Hurley said. "Merz had a consistent effort on the net tonight. Unfortunately we had trouble putting both sides of the game together in a cohesive way on the whole."

On Tuesday, the Lady Mules lost to Napavine in four sets, 24-26, 25-20, 20-25, and 17-25.

Their next three games are on the road. Today (Thursday), they travel to Onalaska; on Saturday, they will play at Mark Morris, and on Tuesday, they face Morton/White Pass a second time.
