The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Eagle reporter Diana Zimmerman received two second place awards in the recently concluded Washington Newspaper Publisher Association's Better Newspaper Contest.

The awards were:

--Personality profile, long: Working on the River--feature story about Capt. Brett Deaton and maritime careers in 2017 Focus on Wahakiakum, and

--Social Issue Story: Family tries to get help, a story about a family's efforts to get help for a mentally ill member involved in a shootout with police.
