Coral Eva Linquist

1920-2018

Longtime beloved Cathlamet resident Coral Eva Linquist, 97, passed away November 26, 2018 at The Villager Inn Retirement Center.

She was born December 25, 1920 to Avery Swink and Coral Jennings. Her mom died when she was just a few days old and she was raised by her mom's sister Kate Jennings and Joe Jennings in Skamokawa WA. She graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1940. She married Jack Linquist May 25, 1940.

Mrs. Linquist did her part in World War II working on a production line while her husband Jack went into the Navy. She was known for her love of God, fierce love of family, being the neighborhood mom and her gift of hospitality. Coral was a visitor who journeyed to houses and the nursing home spending time with those who lived by themselves and or felt alone bringing gifts of food and the joy of company. She did this even in her nineties and walked three miles a day.

She liked Pinochle and was a Wahkiakum Mule (her husband Jack named the team), Mariner, and WSU Cougar fan. She was a member of the United Church of Christ, taught Sunday School, was part of their Woman's club, and a member of the Elochoman Grange.

She is survived by two sons and three daughters in-law Carl and Ruth Linquist of Longview, Bruce and Nikki Linquist of Anchorage AK, and Bonnie Linquist of Grays River. She has eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Linquist March 10, 2008, son's baby Mark, Mark Linquist Dec 28 2006 and her sister Ester Phillips.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Dowling Funeral home in Cathlamet. A viewing will be from 12 to 1 p.m., at the Dowling Funeral Home. A private ceremony for the family will take place afterwards at the Greenwood Cemetery in Cathlamet.
