By all means, let’s have a strip mall along SR 4! We could start with the proposed Dollar General store, and add a Walmart, a casino, a nightclub with topless dancers and a peep show, a bowling alley, an adult book store, liquor stores, pawn shops, and a few used car lots. To further enhance the suburban ambiance of the Monroe Acres and Glengate “estates,” we could invite the construction of a shooting range and a NASCAR track along Elochoman road. How about hosting a privately-operated prison on East Valley road and a Trump golf course and hotel to supplement the coffers of Wahkiakum county?

Other issues: Whatever happened with respect to the “cabin” (moekki) owned by the re-elected county assessor, and the town-owned parcel appropriated for the parking of commercial vehicles by Cathlamet’s mayor? What progress has been made on the “waterfront park” and why, in the absence of any activity, is parking now prohibited on the lot next to the Bank of the Pacific?
