WHS Cross Country

The Wahkiakum High School Cross Country team competed in the last two events of the regular season this week.

Last Wednesday, they traveled to Longview for the Woodland/Mark Morris at R.A. Long Meet to compete with six other teams.

Parker Owen of Woodland set the pace for the 5,000 meter boys’ race, taking first place in a field of 69 runners with a time of 16:58. Jamil Dimaano led Mule runners with a time of 21:34, taking 44th place. Titan Niemela came in 58th place with a time of 23:12.4. Kaiden Ray finished in 23:28 for 60th place and Alex Tantum took 66th place with a time of 24:41.

Annika McCarty of Woodland took first place in the 5,000 meter girls’ race with a time of 22:11. Alexzandria Watkins took 24th place out of 32 runners with a time of 29:25, and Kimberlee Watkins finished in 26th place with a time of 29:35.

On Tuesday, the boys traveled to Rainier to compete in the Central 2B League Championships.

Nicholas Marty of Toledo led 77 runners in 5,000 meter race, taking first place with a time of 16:49.04. For the Mules, Dimaano finished in 21:07.11 for 43rd place, Niemela took 48th place with a time of 21:38.21, Ray placed 61st with a time of 23:16.3, and Tantum finished in 25:17.05 for 69th place.

District is scheduled for November 2.
