Beekeeping progam offered

“Wahkiakum Outdoors,” a Cathlamet Community Center program, presents “Bees, Honey and Beekeeping” by Bill Holmes, Cathlamet resident and president of Cowlitz Beekeepers Association, at 6:30 p.m., on Tuesday, October 29 at the Hope Center, 3rd and Maple, in Cathlamet.

This presentation will be the 18th monthly offering of Wahkiakum Outdoors, a progam intended to expose the community to outdoor resources, activities and opportunities in the surrounding area. Some of the past topics include Native Plants, Birds, Razor Clams, Native American Fisheries, Seals and Sea Lions, Boating Safety, Port 1 Marina, Robotics programs in schools, Salmonid Research, Game Warden Tales and Radio Club support to Emergency Management.

Upcoming presentations include: November 12, Nick Bond from Humanities Washington Speakers Bureau will consider “Are Salmon Doomed?” On December 17 Cathlamet resident Kyleen Austin will describe her epic solo kayak trip from Alaska to Cathlamet.

They continue to seek speakers on topics such as mushrooming, amphibians, hiking trails, forest management, local refuges and other outdoor-related themes. Contact Mike at 601-831-0360 with suggestions or questions.
