The Wahkiakum County Eagle - Established as The Skamokawa Eagle in 1891

Leota Faye Souvenir, 62, of Cathlamet, died December 16, 2019 at OHSU Hospital in Portland. She was born April 17, 1957 in Longview and spent most of her life in Cathlamet, graduating from Wahkiakum High School in 1975. She loved trips to the beach and Lucky Eagle outings.

She enjoyed cooking and baking and especially time with her family. She was a well loved caregiver of many local residents and treasured the time spent caring for residents at The Hotel Cathlamet Assisted Living, when she worked there.

Leota is survived by her son, Ty Briscoe and daughter, Kelsey Briscoe, her mother, Marie West, two brothers, Gordie Souvenir (Marsha), Steve Souvenir (Sue) and three sisters, Janet Bryan (Rick), Cynthia Kapron (Clark), and Karen Posey and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded by her dad, Roy West in 2003.

A memorial service will be held at Dowling Funeral Home in Cathlamet on Saturday, December 21 at 1 p.m. Donations in her name may be made to Cathlamet Firefighters Association, P.O. Box 539, Cathlamet WA 98612. Dowling Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
