The Wahkiakum County Auditor’s Office was visited by Heather Sorgen, from the Washington Secretary of State’s Certification and Training Department on Monday afternoon, to certify the logic and accuracy test results on Wahkiakum County’s ballot tabulation equipment.

The purpose of the test was to ensure that every vote is counted accurately. The procedure was successful and took about a half an hour to complete.

Ballots will be mailed on October 16. October 26 is the last day to register to vote or update information online or by mail, but voters can register or update info in person at the Auditor’s Office until 8 p.m. on Election Day, November 3.

According to a notice from the Auditor’s Office, the USPS is recommending that voters who will be mailing their completed ballots place them in the mail at least one week before Election Day, on October 27. Any ballot that is mailed must be postmarked no later than November 3.

November 3 is Election Day, and official ballot boxes will be open until 8 p.m. that day.

Official ballot boxes can be found inside the door of the Auditor’s Office, outside the Superior Court door of the Wahkiakum County Courthouse, next to the blue USPS box near the Skamokawa Resort, and at Johnson Park in Rosburg, next to the red library box.

The County Canvassing Board certifies General Election results on November 24.
