Marie Elizabeth Schwarze, 84, of Cathlamet, died October 10, 2020 at Somerset Retirement Home in Longview.

She was born June 26, 1936 in Schenectady, New York to William and Marie VanValkenburg. She married William (Bill) Schwarze in August 1960.

Marie and her family moved to Cathlamet in 1975 when they purchased Cathlamet Building Materials. She proudly served on the school board for the Wahkiakum School District and loved the community and enjoyed participating in community events, especially the Friends of Skamokawa annual Review and loved being Mrs. Claus during the annual lighting festival until their retirement in 1998.

Marie is survived by daughter Erin (Jim) Wilson; sons Eric Schwarze and Steven Schwarze, granddaughters Samantha (Mike) Wright and Meagan Johnson and great grandchildren Nolan, Trent, Brooke, and Owen. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill of 55 years, her parents, her brother Richard and sister Joan.

A private family burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery.
