High schools holding graduation next week

The Class of 2021 will hold graduation ceremonies at local high schools next week.

Wahkiakum High School will celebrate the Class of 2021 with their graduation ceremony on Friday, June 11, at 6 p.m. in the football stadium grandstand.

The motto for the Class of 2021 is a statement from Joshua J. Marine, ”Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”

This year's valedictorian is Jacob Leitz. Kaden Anderson is salutatorian.

Each graduate will be provided six tickets for friends and family. The event will not be open to the general public. The ceremony will be live-streamed on the Wahkiakum Broadcasting Channel on Youtube.

Right after the ceremony, at approximately 7:30 p.m., the public is invited to get in their cars to celebrate the graduates with a Community Parade. The graduates will line the school access road, and the public will make their way in their vehicles from the grade school, past the graduates, finally exiting onto SR 4.

On Sunday, 7 p.m., WHS will hold baccalaureate for the Class of 2021 at the football stadium grandstand.

On June 10, at 1:30 p.m., WHS will have an awards ceremony for the graduating class. There will not be any tickets available for this event.

Naselle High School will hold their graduation ceremony for the Class of 2021, on June 12, at 4 p.m. in the gym.

Each graduate has been permitted eight guests. The event will not be open to the general public, but the district is hoping to live-stream the graduation. Details are still being worked out.

The class motto is by Tim McGraw, “Chase your dreams, but always know the road that’ll lead you home again.”

Kolby Glenn is this year’s valedictorian, and Ella Hale is salutatorian.

Glenn, and his classmate, Emma Colombo, will speak.
