Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

August 8 — 9:29 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had broken an ankle during a fall. 2:40 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a restraining order had been violated. 3:14 p.m. A caller asked to file a harassment complaint against a neighbor but was advised that a single violation of a restraining order did not constitute as harassment.

August 9 — 5:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was ailing following a recent surgery. 7:32 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a former girlfriend was trespassing on his property. 10:22 a.m. A caller reported two abandoned vehicles in poor condition at the end of a Skamokawa road. The caller found trash, baby toys, and a diaper bag and said it looked like someone had been sleeping in one of the cars. 10:29 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious van on a property in Skamokawa; the homeowner was out of town. A deputy responded and learned that the people had been hired by the owner to clean up the property. 11:31 a.m. A deputy was requested for a civil stand by at a Cathlamet address. 1:28 p.m. A caller said that someone had broken into a duck shack near Tenasillahe Island. 2:06 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had gone into a ditch along SR 4 in the Skamokawa area. A deputy responded and the driver called a tow truck. 2:14 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who may have suffered a stroke. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 4:24 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious truck and camper had been parked at the end of a Deep River Road for a week. 5:30 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a firearm had been stolen during a break in at his home. 8:57 p.m. A caller said she believed that someone on Puget Island had her dogs after she thought she saw the animals in the windows of a home. A deputy went to the address, but no one answered the door. He said he would follow up the next day.

August 10 — 8:27 a.m. A caller reported an abandoned truck on a road in Deep River. 9:40 p.m. A caller said there was glass on Jacobson Road. The county road department was notified. 1:14 p.m. A caller was concerned that four goats and a pig in an enclosure on a Puget Island property lacked shade. 2:09 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Grays River youth. 5:29 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that she had been shoved by a family member. An individual was taken into custody. 8:06 p.m. A possible drunk driver was seen on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 9:34 p.m. A caller said he had gotten stuck in a ditch in the Elochoman Valley and his vehicle had run out of gas.

August 11 — 7:16 a.m. A caller reported that a herd of cattle was loose and on his property in Grays River. The owner was notified. 4:04 p.m. The Grays River ambulance and state patrol responded when a person in the Rosburg area got his hand stuck in a melting pot. They were told to stand down after the individual found transportation to the hospital. 4:07 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident found a car in the ditch near his home. He called back a little later and said that a person had left a note on the vehicle saying not to tow. It would be picked up later. 5:08 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle heading west on SR 4 in the Nassa Point area had passed him and three other cars before cutting him off. 9:43 p.m. A caller at an Elochoman Valley home asked for assistance after someone overdosed. Two rounds of Narcan were administered. Deputies and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 9:52 p.m. An ambulance struck a deer on an Elochoman Valley road. 10:12 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. A deputy responded and found everything secured.

August 12 — 10:03 a.m. A caller said there was trash all over the roadway about three miles up Beaver Creek Road and he could hear people screaming. 12:04 p.m. A caller reported a possible water line break in the Cathlamet area. The town water department was notified. 12:41 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an east county resident. 10:13 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. A deputy responded and found everything secured.

August 13 — 6:49 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist to a Rosedale resident. 9:54 a.m. A caller reported a large box in the middle of SR 4 in the Rosburg area. 12:24 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Puget Island resident. The caller called back later to say she had been able to contact the individual and that everything was okay. 12:38 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that she had been assaulted by a family member. Deputies responded and an individual was taken into custody. 1:11 p.m. A caller said that goats and a pig were in a pen without shelter on a property on Puget Island. The resident received a warning. She said they were aware of the problem and planned to build a shelter that night. 4:48 p.m. A marijuana grow was found on a logging road along Beaver Creek Road. The plants and water pump were removed and taken into evidence. 6:37 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious person sitting in a vehicle parked by Strong Park. 7:30 p.m. A caller said that two males were listening to loud, obscene music in a parking lot in Cathlamet and drinking unknown beverages. Deputies responded and the men ran toward an apartment building nearby. 7:52 p.m. A caller asked to go to the hospital. She was concerned that the people she was staying with were trying to get her into trouble. The Grays River ambulance responded. 10:47 p.m. A caller said a boat was stranded near Coffee Pot Island. The U.S. Coast Guard responded to determine if medical assistance was needed. They learned that the people were okay but the 40 foot boat had an electrical issue. A marine rescue was called and arrived to tow the boat at 8:07 a.m.

August 14 — 2:17 a.m. A caller said a pedestrian was sitting in the middle of one lane of SR 4 on the east side of the county. A second caller said he was covered in a blanket with a beer in his hand and was sitting near the fog line in the Flandersville area. State patrol responded and the mental health department was notified when the person expressed despondence. 12:18 p.m. A caller said that four goats and a pig had no shelter on a Puget Island property. A deputy responded and found a shelter under construction. He planned to follow up. 3:45 p.m. A bicyclist said he was threatened by a man in a maroon car while riding at the refuge. 4:38 p.m. A caller reported an assault near Nassa Point. 9:46 p.m. Four people were stuck on a boat that had run out of gas on the west end of Puget Island. Deputies responded and were able to get them moved. The boat was anchored at a nearby beach and the owner planned to return in the morning.

August 15 — 10:25 a.m. A caller reported an abandoned car with blankets in the back on Beaver Creek Road. 10:31 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident asked for assistance after a friend put on a pair of handcuffs the wrong way and they were unable to get them off. They called back fifteen minutes later to say the handcuffs were off. 8:04 p.m. A deputy was able to get a woman safely to her home after witnessing her walking down Columbia Street in her underwear. 10:58 p.m. A deputy looked for a white van after a caller saw that the driver was traveling in the Cathlamet area with a flat tire.
