Instructor Valerie Klemetti Blessley is a folk harpist who was formally introduced to the kantele in 2001.

She began her studies on kantele in a series of workshops in the Portland, Ore. area, with Wilho Saari, WA State Kantele Master. She also attended multiple workshops with noted kantele teachers from Finland, including Dr. Arja Kastinen, Vilma Timonen, Anna-Karin Korhonen, and Anu Alviola.

She looks forward to introducing people to the kantele every chance she gets, and owns instruments in 5, 10, 11, 29, 36 (koti kantele) and 39 strings (concert kantele). She will bring a variety of kanteles to the workshop so people can see, hear and perhaps even play them.

On Friday, November 4 and Friday, December 3 at 3 p.m., the Archives will host Holiday Centerpiece Workshops presented by Miller Homestead Farms for $25 per person which includes materials and instruction.

Also check their website for updates about the 2021 Harvest Auction Online; they will go live in mid-November.
