Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 14 — 11:09 p.m. A woman called from a Rosedale business. She didn’t want to go home, stating that she was seeing ants and they were following her around. She was connected with a mental health crisis line, and a deputy transported her to her home, where he found a few ants. The woman said she was suicidal, but when advised that the ambulance would not be able to transport her luggage with her to the hospital, she opted to leave the residence on foot with her bags.

November 15 — 2:30 a.m. A caller reported that a woman was walking in the middle of the eastbound lane of SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 7:17 a.m. A driver reported that he had been passed by another motorist on Columbia Street in Cathlamet. 7:39 a.m. A caller reported that a woman was walking down the middle of SR 4 on Abe Creek Hill. 8:52 a.m. A tree was down and blocking both lanes of SR 4 west of Mill Creek Road. Cowlitz County authorities reported that the Washington Department of Transportation had been notified. 9:46 a.m. A caller reported that two suitcases had been left in parking spaces in front of a Rosedale business. 11:15 a.m. There were several reports of downed trees along SR 4, including a tree that was blocking the eastbound lane and part of the westbound lane of SR 4 on the west side of KM, three trees that were down near the top of KM, and trees down in the Rosburg area. 11:27 a.m. A fire alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. The Cathlamet Fire Department was alerted, but it turned out to be a false alarm. 11:50 a.m. Power outages were reported in Deep River and in the Altoona/Pillar Rock Road areas. The PUD and the Grays River Fire Department responded. 12:05 p.m. A caller reported that two telephone poles were down and a tree was across the wire, but there was no sign of smoke or fire. 12:08 p.m. Large branches from an oak tree had fallen onto Covered Bridge Road and more were expected to come down. The county road department responded. 3:57 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that a contractor had taken construction materials belonging to the homeowner. 5:20 p.m. The passenger of a vehicle was given a warning for not wearing a seatbelt. 6:22 p.m. The PUD was notified when a caller reported seeing sparks on an electrical pole in the Rosburg area. 6:47 p.m. A deputy was requested for a civil standby at a Cathlamet address. 6:55 p.m. A caller complained about several cars partially parked in the roadway in front of a home on Beaver Creek Road. Deputies responded. A responsible party said that six of the seven cars would be moved within the hour, and the seventh vehicle would be moved within 24 hours. 6:59 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a man followed some children home and was harassing them. He left the scene when someone dialed 911. It may have been a road rage incident. 7:33 p.m. A license plate was seized by law enforcement when it was determined not to match a vehicle. 7:37 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale residence to aid an individual with a mental health issue. 9:22 p.m. Emergency personnel in Skamokawa responded to a home on Middle Valley Road to aid an individual who was having a severe allergic reaction. 9:48 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle. A deputy responded.

November 16 — 11:26 a.m. Two vehicles were involved in an accident on SR 4 in the Alger Creek area. Injuries were reported. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the District 4 Fire Department responded. 1:03 p.m. A caller reported that a suspicious person was trying to gain entry to an Elochoman Valley home. Deputies responded and a person was taken into custody.

November 17 — 11:45 a.m. A burglary alarm was activated at a Skamokawa address. A deputy responded and a door was found open in the garage. The home was secured. 3:35 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident with a hand injury. 7:43 p.m. A caller believed that a restraining order had been violated after she received a text. A deputy spoke with the individual after it was determined that the order had not been served.

November 18 — 11:34 a.m. A caller reported possible child abuse. 2:42 p.m. Adult Protective Services reported possible abuse at a Skamokawa residence. 4:57 p.m. A caller reported a possible trespasser at an Elochoman Valley property. 5:25 p.m. A caller reported that someone wearing dark clothes was in the middle of SR 4 in the Rosedale area. 6:09 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet business. A deputy responded and found everything secure. 6:13 p.m. A suspicious person was seen circling an apartment building in Cathlamet. A deputy reported that the subject walked to the post office, got in a vehicle and left.

November 19 — 8:59 a.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 10:45 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a missing dog. 2:19 p.m. A vehicle was speeding and passing in no passing zones on SR 4 near County Line Park. 2:35 p.m. A vehicle was speeding on East Valley Road. 5:50 p.m. A caller said his vehicle had broken down on Main Street and that he would return in the morning to take care of it. 10:25 p.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. A responsible party was able to reset the alarm.

November 20 — 5:04 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident complaining of nausea and chest pain. 7:48 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported trespassers. 9:30 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that cows had been in her yard the night before and caused damage. She said it was the second time they had been there in a week. A deputy spoke with the resident who said she didn’t want to press charges, she just wanted the problem fixed. The deputy advised her to put up a fence and to speak to the neighbor. 10:08 a.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a bicycle had been stolen. 3:37 p.m. A caller reported seeing several signs of fire in the Skamokawa area. The Skamokawa Fire Department, the Grays River Fire Department, the District 4 Fire Department and the Puget Island Fire department responded. Someone from the Skamokawa Fire Department said it appeared to be slash fires, and the Department of Natural Resources was contacted. There were eight burn piles, and they were determined to belong to Weyerhauser Timber. They had been lit two weeks earlier and it was believed that they may have rekindled. Incident command was terminated and all units were back in service at 4:20 p.m. 4:02 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. 4:22 p.m. A caller reported a deceased deer in standing water in a Puget Island field. He was advised that it was his responsibility to dispose of it. 6:51 p.m. A driver swerved to miss an elk on SR 4 in the Rosedale area and ran into a guardrail. A deputy responded and a tow truck was called.
