Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

November 21 — 9:15 a.m. The Wahkiakum Animal Advocates Group picked up a dog from a Rosedale business after it was found running loose and the owner could not be contacted. 10:57 a.m. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified after an injured red tail hawk was found on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. 1:33 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having a bad reaction to a medication. 2:47 p.m. The county road department was notified about a stop sign that was missing from an Elochoman Valley road. The caller was concerned that it might cause an accident. 3:09 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. A deputy responded. 3:23 p.m. A driver was cited for failing to transfer a title and failure to display registration on a trailer. 4:09 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an individual at an East Valley home. Deputies responded and were told that the person had left two days earlier. 5:38 p.m. An Alger Creek resident reported that a vehicle had been stolen from his property. He found a back door kicked in but nothing appeared to be missing. 6:22 p.m. Deputies, the Cathlamet ambulance, and the Puget Island Fire Department responded to a two car accident on North Welcome Slough Road. There were injuries reported. An individual was taken into custody for driving under the influence. The PUD was notified when it was discovered that a water line had been damaged. They responded but decided to return the following day for repairs after no leak was found. Two tow trucks were requested. 11:16 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who may have had a seizure.

November 22 — 12:04 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said she felt threatened by a comment made on Facebook. 10:55 a.m. A person reported seeing a firearm in a vehicle in the Rosburg area.

November 23 — 1:45 a.m. A caller complained about several loud trucks possibly racing on a Puget Island road. A deputy responded and spoke with someone who said he was just heading home after visiting a friend in Longview. 9:53 a.m. A Rosedale resident said there were fish hooks on her property and she was concerned that her puppy might get them in her paws. A deputy responded. He did not find any hooks. 12:15 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a white van pulled up next to a truck and someone tried to open the truck doors. 1:12 p.m. A caller reported that diesel had been stolen from county dump trucks. 4:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to the clinic to aid an individual who was having breathing issues. The person refused transport to the hospital. 5:02 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver heading west on SR 4 in the County Line Park area. A deputy pulled the driver over and discovered it was a medical issue, not intoxication. She was advised not to drive and to have someone pick her up. 7:11 p.m. A possible disabled vehicle was reported on SR 4 near the summit of KM. 8:44 p.m. A motorcyclist was cited for driving with a suspended license. A deputy waited until a licensed driver arrived. 10:26 p.m. A driver asked for assistance after his car broke down on East Birnie Slough Road. A deputy found the vehicle blocking the road, but they were able to get it started by 11:10 p.m.

November 24 — 8:43 a.m. A caller reported that diesel had been stolen and a dump truck was damaged at the county shop on the Westend. 11:54 a.m. A caller reported that an Amazon driver had struck a building on River Street. 4:54 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that a suspicious vehicle kept pulling into his driveway. 5:23 p.m. A caller reported an eastbound vehicle that was speeding and passing in no passing zones. State patrol was notified. 6:49 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident who had a scratch that would not stop bleeding. 7:14 p.m. A caller reported that a deer had been struck on SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. It was alive and sitting in the roadway. It ran away when a deputy responded.

November 25 — 1:33 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. A deputy responded and found everything secure. 5:54 a.m. A caller reported a small rock slide on SR 4 in the Cape Horn area. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the slide. 10:14 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious person checking out houses on East Sunny Sands Road. 11:38 a.m. A caller reported graffiti on a Skamokawa roadway. 2:47 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle.

November 26 — 12:53 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing resident on East Valley Road. 3:46 a.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle in the eastbound lane of SR 4 on the east side of KM. 10:18 a.m. A resident on East Valley Road said that a neighbor’s dogs had killed several of her birds and were continuing to come on to her property. 2:03 p.m. A caller requested an emergency water shutoff in Cathlamet. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded and the Cathlamet public works supervisor was notified. 2:24 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual with hip pain. The caller said she was unable to get to the door and a deputy responded to help gain access to the home. 4:15 p.m. A second emergency water shut off was requested in Cathlamet.

November 27 — 2:51 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen recently and had ongoing arm pain. 7:37 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that an injured deer was curled up next to a building. The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife was notified. 9:14 a.m. A theft was reported at an Alger Creek home. 3:57 p.m. A caller was concerned that a dog was being neglected at a home on North Welcome Slough Road.

November 28 — 1:29 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Puget Island address. It was canceled by the alarm company at 1:32 a.m.
