Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

January 30 — 9:53 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Deep River home to aid an individual who had lost consciousness and was barely breathing. Life Flight was requested, but later told to stand down. The coroner was on scene at 11:54 p.m. and Dowling Funeral Home was notified.

January 31 — 4:07 p.m. A caller reported that a westbound silver Honda Civic was speeding and passing in no passing zones.

February 1 — 12:05 p.m. A deputy attempted to arrest a subject on probable cause, but she had left the area. 1:25 p.m. Money was found in the hallway at the courthouse. It was later claimed by the owner.

February 2 — 4:02 p.m. A caller reported that a Washington State Department of Transportation vehicle was parked in a handicap spot behind the Cathlamet Library, and that it was the second time it had happened. A deputy contacted the agency and advised them to move the vehicle. The initial caller confirmed that the vehicle had been moved at 4:27 p.m. 8:06 p.m. Several homeowners in the Grays River area reported that they had no water pressure. At 8:45 p.m., the PUD responded and advised that homes on Covered Bridge Road would not have water while they were making repairs. At 9:13 p.m., the PUD was digging to repair a water main for Loop Road and Fairview Road.

February 3 — 8 a.m. A Puget Island resident said she had received a text alleging that a child had been sexually assaulted by the resident’s boyfriend. A deputy contacted the person who had sent the text. She admitted that she had fabricated the story because she was angry with the person who had reported the matter. Because there was no truth to the allegations, no action was taken. 12:22 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Rosedale resident. Deputies attempted to make contact but no one answered the door or the phone. 3:50 p.m. A caller said that she had discovered that her purse was missing. She said she had hidden it in her car when she went for a walk at the marina earlier that day. She called back at 5:02 p.m. to say she had found the purse in her garage. 4:10 p.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a caller reported that a man was lying on Main Street. He had hit his head but was conscious and talking. He refused transport to the hospital. 4:56 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a resident on Greenwood Road who had a three inch laceration on his left knee. 6:32 p.m. A caller reported a boulder in the westbound lane of SR 4 near Flandersville. A deputy responded. 6:50 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident with radiating chest pain. 7:05 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on a child at a Puget Island home. A deputy met with the family and determined all was well.

February 4 — 11:46 a.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that a package had been stolen. 12:31 p.m. A Skamokawa resident notified the sheriff’s department that they would be doing target practice on his property. 2:33 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a referral from Adult Protective Services for a person at a Skamokawa home. Deputies responded. 4:18 p.m. A resident on Greenwood Road was concerned he had purchased a stolen trailer after the title he was given did not match. A deputy responded and it was determined that it was not stolen; the seller had given him the wrong title. They were advised to meet and exchange paperwork. 6:41 p.m. A caller reported an underage party on Eden Valley Road. The caller said there were about 10 vehicles blocking the roadway and about 20 teens involved. Deputies responded at 8:47 p.m. and found 10 people at the party and no vehicles in the road. 10:21 p.m. A caller reported that a fire hydrant on West Birnie Slough Road was leaking and spraying everywhere. The PUD was notified and the leak was fixed around 11:13 p.m.

February 5 — 12:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 5:25 p.m. A Puget Island resident who was out of town said that friends had seen someone driving her car. The vehicle was located and released to someone who was authorized by the owner to take it. An individual was arrested. 7:41 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired and kids screaming for help at Erickson Park. A deputy responded and saw four juveniles running towards the high school. 11:38 p.m. A car went into a ditch along SR 4 just east of Flandersville. The caller said the car was wrecked and a girl was waiting for her mother. Deputies, state patrol, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. The individual refused transport to the hospital. A tow was called. 11:43 p.m. A caller reported that her son had been assaulted by multiple people at a bonfire in the Abernathy area. He also had a gun pulled on him, she said. He was en route to his home in Oregon. The sheriff’s department referred the matter to Cowlitz County.

February 6 — 11:06 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a donkey that did not belong to her was on her property. 11:08 a.m. A caller reported an issue with her landlord. A deputy spoke with both parties and advised them that it was a civil matter.
