Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

April 18 — 5:14 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Puget Island resident. A deputy spoke to the individual on the phone and learned he was well. 5:23 p.m. A deputy was dispatched to a Cathlamet address following a request to transport a person with a mental health issue to the hospital. The deputy asked for additional units from state patrol when the individual resisted. The subject was arrested and his apartment was secured.

April 19 — 2:59 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had fallen. 4:56 p.m. A medical alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley home. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 5:26 p.m. A caller reported an aggressive driver on West Birnie Slough Road. 6:27 p.m. The sheriff’s department received an Adult Protective Services referral for a Rosedale home. 7:16 p.m. A designated crisis responder requested a deputy to transport a person at a Rosedale home. A deputy and state patrol responded. 8:23 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen and was bleeding from a head wound. 8:36 p.m. A call came in from a Cowlitz County agency with information from a man claiming that his sister had been rescued after falling down a cliff, but later got out of his car near milepost 50 and disappeared. He did not know if she had walked east or west on SR 4.

April 20 — 11:49 a.m. A Grays River resident claimed that someone had broken into her home and stolen a wallet and was now using the credit cards. She suspected an individual she said had been stalking her and scratching at her window. 1:20 p.m. A caller said a tenant in a Cathlamet apartment building was using an extension cord to steal electricity. A deputy responded. 4:03 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 409. 7:37 p.m. A driver was given a field sobriety test. There was no evidence of driving under the influence, but methamphetamine was located. A drug warning was given and resources were provided. The driver was cited for driving with a suspended license. 9:34 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a suspicious vehicle had been in his driveway. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the truck. 10:20 p.m. A septic alarm was activated at an Elochoman Valley address. 10:48 p.m. The sheriff’s department was provided information about an individual heading east on SR 4 from Pacific County and had probable cause for a felony court order violation. He was believed to be suicidal and carrying a pistol, and deputies were advised to approach with caution. Pacific County authorities later decided they would deal with the subject during daylight hours when there were more resources available.

April 21 — 11:27 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and the District 4 Fire Department provided a lift assist for an Elochoman Valley resident. 12:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 3:50 p.m. A caller reported that a van in a Cathlamet parking lot was taking up several parking spots and wanted a deputy to ask the driver to move. A deputy spoke with the vehicle owner who said that he had run out of gas but was trying to resolve the issue. 7:25 p.m. A welfare check was requested for someone who was believed to be intoxicated and hadn’t been heard from in the last two hours. The caller later found the individual and reported that he had been drinking and was being aggressive. 8:48 p.m. A driver said he went into a ditch after a near miss from an oncoming vehicle on SR 4 on the east side of KM. He said the vehicle had a running light, but no headlights and was traveling 60-70 mph.

April 22 — 8:31 a.m. An individual was arrested after a domestic disturbance was reported in Cathlamet. 10 a.m. A caller was concerned that some children living in a Skamokawa home may have been abandoned. 12:26 p.m. A Puget Island resident said that someone had driven a truck onto her property during the night, causing damage to her yard. She asked for extra patrols and installed a barrier. 1:35 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 4 p.m. A caller said that a person who had been trespassed from marina property had returned. 5:02 p.m. A caller reported that two people in a vehicle had gone into a ditch on Beaver Creek Road. A deputy responded and said there were no injuries, but he needed assistance with extrication. The District 4 Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 6:59 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was concerned that he had been scammed after he purchased an excavator on Craigslist and it had not arrived by the delivery date. 10:51 p.m. A Rosedale resident said he could not attend his son’s baseball game because his brother-in-law had threatened him. 10:53 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Rosedale home and someone allegedly pulled a large hunting knife.

April 23 — 4:21 a.m. A power outage was reported in the Cathlamet area. The PUD was notified. 8:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having trouble breathing. 9:54 a.m. The Skamokawa Fire Department and the Cathlamet ambulance responded when a caller said a person at a Middle Valley Road residence was having a seizure. 2:15 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing shots fired for more than 25 minutes. 4:41 p.m. A caller reported that someone on a dirt bike was trespassing on a property along East Valley Road. 8:29 p.m. A caller complained about a driver traveling on SR 4 in the Alger Creek area who kept stopping and getting out of her car. He said he was going to follow her, but was told not to put himself in danger. 9:38 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 call with no one on the line. A minute later an assault was reported, but the phone kept cutting out. The caller said she did not know were the suspect was, but she said he had a machete. Deputies and state patrol responded to an Elochoman Valley residence, where they learned the subject was on foot.

April 24 — 8:10 a.m. A caller reported a hit and run on an Elochoman Valley Road. The driver was known. No injuries were reported.
