April 30 — 5:38 a.m. A cold and frightened woman knocked at the door of a Puget Island home asking for refuge. She said she had escaped from a man from South Bend. The woman was scared of a white truck that had passed the home twice, the caller said. A domestic violence advocate spoke with the woman, and a deputy responded. An individual was taken into custody. 12:38 p.m. An east county resident reported that a man and two kids were trespassing and taking gravel from a pile on his property. 6:32 p.m. A caller reported two dirt bikes and a four wheeler racing up and down Middle Valley Road. 6:48 p.m. Authorities in Pacific County asked if a deputy would get a statement from a Deep River resident regarding a vehicle stolen from Dismal Nitch. 8:20 p.m. A caller was concerned about weapons being fired on a neighboring Puget Island property. The caller said it was very noisy and that children were present. A second caller said neighbors had been shooting for about an hour and that it was upsetting her animals. A deputy responded. 10:07 p.m. A caller said his burn pile on Puget Island was still smoldering, in case anyone called to report it.

May 1 — 10:59 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who was ailing and couldn’t feel or use one of his hands. 5:49 p.m. A tree had fallen and was blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 near County Line Park. 6:28 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had fallen. 8:42 p.m. A man on Main Street in Cathlamet believed he was being followed by someone in a black Tesla. State patrol and a deputy responded. The deputy requested a mental health professional. Involuntary treatment was deemed inappropriate, and a family member arrived to take the man home.

May 2 — 11:28 a.m. A bale of hay fell off a truck traveling on SR 4 in the Deep River area, blocking one lane and partially blocking the other. 1:03 p.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a subject had violated a no contact order multiple times. A deputy spoke with the caller. 1:12 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that someone was blocking her driveway. She later said she had spoken with the individual and that it was okay to park her car there. 3:37 p.m. A driver was pulled over in Cathlamet and taken into custody after failing a preliminary breath test. 5:19 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on SR 4. 5:32 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that his wife had been missing since early afternoon. She returned at 5:59 p.m. A deputy made a mental health call and she was admitted to the hospital. 8:10 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a person whose truck had broken down in the Grays River area. A deputy responded and found the vehicle unoccupied.

May 3 — 6:18 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Elochoman Valley resident who was having a seizure. The individual refused transport to the hospital. 10:18 a.m. A caller said a restraining order may have been violated after a subject was seen driving past a Rosburg home. 11:16 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was hanging down and blocking both lanes of Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. The county road department was notified. 11:46 a.m. A vehicle that fit the description of a truck stolen from Dismal Nitch was seen in Deep River. Authorities in Pacific County asked if a deputy would see if the owner was with the vehicle. A deputy responded. 2:15 p.m. A log truck accident blocked the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Rosburg area. No injuries were reported. State patrol responded. 4:58 p.m. A caller requested a welfare check on an individual in Wahkiakum County, stating that another family member was preventing her from making contact. A deputy spoke to the person she was concerned about and determined that he was okay. 5:23 p.m. A caller reported that an eastbound driver in a yellow Camaro convertible was traveling at excessive speeds on SR 4 in the Elochoman Valley area. Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle. 5:39 p.m. A caller said a raccoon looked ill and was walking in circles on Main Street in Cathlamet. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the animal. 9:32 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Grays River resident who was having respiratory issues.

May 4 — 8:56 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at a Puget Island property. The caller said that the homeowner only used the residence in the summer. 1:05 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle parked in a ditch behind his property on Elochoman Valley Road. 3:02 p.m. A person tried to cash a fraudulent check from a Cathlamet business account at a bank in Medford, Ore. Deputies investigated and identified a suspect. 3:09 p.m. Deputies attempted to locate a suicidal juvenile from a neighboring county. 5:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Beaver Creek resident. 5:16 p.m. A caller reported that a vehicle had returned to a neighboring Puget Island home while the owners were away. A deputy responded and issued a trespassing warning. 6:01 p.m. A Beaver Creek resident reported that a dog had killed seven of his chickens. He did not know who owned the dog. 6:40 p.m. Someone from a Rosedale business asked a deputy to pick up a propane tank that had been left on the property.

May 5 — 10:19 a.m. A caller said that his vehicle was on the shoulder of SR 4 in the Skamokawa area with a flat tire. He said there was no tow available and asked for assistance. A deputy responded. 4:26 p.m. A driver asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 7:31 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident with an issue related to diabetes. 7:44 p.m. Another agency reported a possible stolen vehicle heading west on SR 4 at a high rate of speed. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the vehicle.

May 6 — 1:26 a.m. A caller reported that a man was sleeping in front of a business on Main Street in Cathlamet. At 1:36 a.m., he said he would walk home, but was intoxicated and became aggressive. A deputy responded. 2:49 a.m. A caller reported that a man was yelling and causing a disturbance in front of a building on Main Street in Cathlamet. Two deputies responded. 10:41 a.m. A burglar alarm was activated at a Rosburg home. The alarm was canceled. 1:49 p.m. A caller reported that her dogs had responded to something outside her Puget Island home around 5 a.m., and that a vehicle alarm had sounded. She did not see anything out of the ordinary, and her husband had checked the property and did not find anything. She said they had cameras and security lights. 5:07 p.m. A resident on East Valley Road said that catalytic converters were stolen from eight vehicles. 9:27 p.m. A caller said that a vehicle in the parking lot of the day use area at County Line Park had driven into the grass and may have gotten stuck after nearly reaching the beach. 11:04 p.m. A Skamokawa resident was concerned when an ex contacted him despite a protection order that she’d had issued against him. A deputy spoke to the caller and informed him that there was no violation.

May 7 — 9:26 a.m. A caller said that an unknown and suspicious truck was seen coming out of a building on a family member’s property. 11:21 a.m. A body washed up on a beach near an east county home. Deputies and the coroner responded. 1:50 p.m. A caller reported that someone had stolen a check. She said she was now outside the suspect’s Elochoman Valley home and wanted police assistance. A deputy attempted to convince the caller to come to the courthouse, but when the suspect exited the home, the caller started yelling at her. When the caller was instructed to leave, she hung up. A deputy attempted to reconnect with the caller but was unsuccessful. 2:20 p.m. A caller said he was stuck on Steamboat Slough Road after a tree fell. The county road department responded, and both lanes were open at 4:24 p.m. 2:38 p.m. A fallen branch caused a power line to droop over Middle Valley Road. The PUD was notified.
