The number of cumulative covid-19 cases reported by Wahkiakum Health and Human Services has come to a halt at 314 in recent weeks, with no active cases. While they are only counting cases confirmed by PCR tests, the Washington Department of Health (DOH) tallies PCR and antigen tests and is currently reporting 555 positive cases, 35 hospitalizations, and seven deaths attributed to covid-19 in the county.

Last week, DOH reported 553 cases, 34 hospitalizations and seven deaths.

Disclaimer: With the easy accessibility of at home tests, the actual number of active covid-19 cases and actual cumulative numbers in the county, are hard to know.

According to DOH, 74.8 percent of the population in the state of Washington age five and up are considered fully vaccinated. In Wahkiakum County, 50.8 percent of the population age six months and up are considered fully vaccinated.

“We didn't have any six month to five year olds show at the shot clinic on Monday,” WHHS Director Chris Bischoff said. “We would really like parents to get in and get it done. We really need to get these youngest kids vaccinated.”

The Pfizer vaccine, including a second booster, is available at the WHHS vaccine clinic on Mondays and Wednesdays, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1:30-3 p.m. Call 360-849-4041 for more information. The clinic will be closed for the 4th of July holiday on Monday.
