Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

June 19 — 3:56 p.m. A resident on East Valley Road reported that a vehicle was blocking his driveway. 4:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident after her hip went out. 5:40 p.m. A deputy spoke to a Rosburg resident about a hit and run accident at the request of the Longview Police Department. The individual admitted to being in the collision but said he had spoken to the other party and that there had been no damage. 10:09 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle in a church parking lot on Puget Island. 10:47 p.m. Deputies looked for a vehicle belonging to an Elochoman Valley resident after she reported that it had been stolen by a family member. They were unable to locate the vehicle or the driver.

June 20 — 7:18 a.m. A caller reported that a power line was down in Deep River after it had been struck by a truck belonging to a logging company. The PUD was notified. 9:25 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded after a woman fell down some stairs in front of an apartment in Cathlamet and was believed to be badly injured. She refused aid. 10:52 a.m. A caller reported that a deer had been struck by a car on SR 4 just east of Cathlamet. A deputy responded and the animal was removed from the roadway. 3:09 p.m. The Wahkiakum Animal Advocates Group requested assistance from the sheriff’s office as they took possession of a dog and turtle that had been abandoned at a Rosedale address. An Adult Protective Services report was filed. 4:35 p.m. Power outages were reported on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road, Barr Road, Malone Creek Road, Hoikka Road, West Deep River Road, and Mattson Road. A loud bang was heard near the Rosburg store. The PUD was able to restore power to the Westend by 6:43 p.m. 5:25 p.m. A caller reported a structure fire in Rosburg. The Grays River ambulance responded. There was no fire, but smoke was coming from a generator. 6:04 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a Rosedale address when a caller reported that a youth had tested positive for covid-19. The individual had blue lips, purple fingertips, and a fever of 103 degrees. 6:07 p.m. A caller reported an erratic driver on East Sunny Sands Road. A deputy located the vehicle and followed it for a couple miles but saw no probable cause for a stop. 7:19 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of his vehicle. 7:45 p.m. A caller reported that someone was speeding up and down Columbia Street on a motorbike.

June 21 — 2:09 p.m. A caller reported an injured doe in the woods along SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. A deputy responded and found the deer about 80 yards from the highway. He notified the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. 3:17 p.m. A caller reported a possible unlicensed driver driving on school property in Cathlamet. 3:59 p.m. A Cathlamet resident asked for assistance after getting locked out of her home. A deputy responded. 4:48 p.m. A caller was concerned about a man who seemed upset and was sitting in a car parked in a secluded spot at the marina. A deputy responded and found everything in order.

June 22 — 1:21 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet address. A responsible party was contacted; they came to do a walk through with a deputy. 5:34 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer in the middle of SR 4 in the Cathlamet area. 6:48 a.m. A caller reported a drug overdose in an Elochoman Valley home. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. At 6:55 a.m., the caller canceled the call, saying they would take the individual to the hospital by private vehicle. At 7:02 a.m., they requested the ambulance again. 10:02 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on SR 4 near Nassa Point. 11:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient with a history of heart problems and severe pain in her left arm to the hospital. 11:49 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported fraudulent activity on an account. 2:42 p.m. A caller reported a horse running loose on East Sunny Sands Road. A deputy responded and said the horse was caught by 2:57 p.m. 7:49 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen earlier and was unable to move. LifeFlight responded. 8:18 p.m. A deputy provided landing zone assistance for a helicopter arriving in Cathlamet. 8:25 p.m. A caller reported that two juveniles were on school property, possibly smoking marijuana. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the pair.

June 23 — 2:37 p.m. A cell phone was found on Steamboat Slough Road. 5:05 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle.

June 24 — 12:21 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Rosedale business. Deputies responded. They attempted to contact the owner, but there was no response. 10:57 a.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on SR 4 just east of Cathlamet. A second caller reported the animal. 1:36 p.m. A Deep River resident reported that five of his tires had been punctured in the last year. He did not know who was doing it, but said that all the punctures and slits had been in the sidewalls. 2:02 p.m. A referral to Adult Protective Services was made for an individual in a Cathlamet home. 5:34 p.m. A caller reported a lost wallet. 6:05 p.m. A caller reported a drunk driver heading east on SR 4. 7:10 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle with a damaged windshield that had been parked on River Street for more than two months. 9:47 p.m. A caller reported a torso had been found on a beach on White's Island; officers determined that the torso had been found on a beach in Columbia County, Ore., and authorities in Columbia County and the Oregon State Patrol were notified. 10:43 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. 11:09 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Grays River resident. A deputy responded and found the person well.

June 25 — 7:52 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle on an east county property. Deputies responded and three people were taken into custody. The property was secured. 11:15 a.m. A caller said he had struck a conduit that connected to a power pole on Fossil Creek Road. He said there were no broken wires, but there was some damage to the conduit. The PUD was notified. 11:17 a.m. A Deep River resident reported another flat tire. He said the tire had been purchased within the last two weeks. 11:46 a.m. A caller said that a truck ran out of gas in front of his Elochoman Valley home and that he had taken the driver to get gas. The caller said the driver had offered to pay for a half gallon and had a gas can without a lid. 2:07 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who may have had a stroke. 4:52 p.m. A caller reported that a motorcyclist was speeding on North Welcome Slough Road. 4:57 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident complaining of back pain. 8:38 p.m. A caller reported that hay had fallen on SR 4 in the Deep River area and was blocking both lanes of traffic. 9:17 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a woman was screaming at him and wouldn’t leave his property. He said she had struck his brother in the back of the head and was saying that she wanted her property back.

June 26 —12:30 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Grays River resident. A deputy responded and found that all was well. 1:33 p.m. A caller was concerned that a Rosedale resident was having a mental health crisis and requested a welfare check. A crisis team met with the individual and found all in order. 2:32 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting a key stuck in a vehicle door. 4:15 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting a flat tire.
