Sheriff's Report, July 14, 2022

 


Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

July 3 — 9:14 p.m. A caller said she was threatened after asking youths driving three cars to slow down on Eden Valley Road. She said the boys were speeding and doing cookies and that one of them told her they would come back and burn down her house. 8:50 p.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Rosburg home. The caller said threats had been ongoing. Deputies responded. 9:37 p.m. A caller on Ingalls Road reported that a dog had run away because of fireworks. 9:42 p.m. The Grays River ambulance responded to a Rosburg home following a domestic disturbance.

July 4 — 9:58 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that she was being stalked and harassed by an ex-boyfriend. 11:11 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing person at a Cathlamet address. 11:58 a.m. A caller reported that a driver was standing on the fog line of SR 4 near Nassa Point, changing a tire. 3:53 p.m. A caller said a young boy was riding a bicycle in the middle of Elochoman Valley Road. The boy said he was meeting his family at the river. 3:59 p.m. A child was bitten by a dog. Dispatch attempted to contact the father to get an address for the attack. At 4:13 p.m., the owner of the dog called. A deputy spoke to both parties, who were related. The dog owner spoke about euthanizing the dog, and the child was headed to the hospital. 10:12 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911.


July 5 — 9:33 a.m. A caller reported that cows were loose and walking on Covered Bridge Road. The owner was notified. 9:47 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Rosburg resident who had low blood pressure and some evidence of internal bleeding. 9:54 a.m. A caller reported a disabled vehicle on SR 4 at County Line Park. 5:15 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a woman who was crying under a car port at the back of a Cathlamet church. Deputies responded. She did not have permission from the pastor or the pastor’s wife to stay on the property and was trespassed. 7:49 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was weak and disoriented.


July 6 — 11:33 a.m. A Deep River resident found several of his tires had been punctured, including a spare tire. He suspected vandalism but had no evidence for it. 12:05 p.m. A caller reported a white van that was related to the theft of cedar in the Elochoman Valley. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 2:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who may have had a heart attack. 2:13 p.m. A standby was requested for a tow at a Cathlamet address. 5:18 p.m. A resident on Greenwood Road said his neighbor was moving survey stakes. Both parties were trespassed. 5:42 p.m. An East Valley Road resident reported a burglary. He had been gone for three weeks and came home to discover some of his property was missing. A search warrant was later issued and presented at a nearby address; an individual was arrested. 8:20 p.m. A welfare check was requested for three children at a Cathlamet address. State patrol responded. 8:41 p.m. A caller was concerned that a restraining order was possibly being violated. 9:21 p.m. A pedestrian in a crosswalk on Main Street in Cathlamet was almost struck by a driver.


July 7 — 9:54 a.m. A caller said that her son was being harassed by a property owner at a public beach on East Sunny Sands. 2:18 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported an Alger Creek resident complaining of abdominal pain to the hospital. 3:20 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle involved in the theft of cedar was up in the Mill Creek area. The caller said there were multiple vehicles involved and that a man seen with this particular vehicle was armed with a large firearm on his hip. 3:41 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a deer had been struck and was on his property. A deputy euthanized the animal. 5:24 p.m. A caller reported that a Rosedale resident had threatened to harm himself. A crisis team was responding from Longview. 11:55 p.m. A caller reported that there had almost been a collision on SR 4 near the east end of Columbia Street because there was one turn lane for traffic going east and west.


July 8 — 11:12 a.m. A Rosedale resident was upset after finding a dead raccoon in the garbage. 2:59 p.m. A caller reported the possible sexual assault of a child. The information was forwarded to another jurisdiction. 4:18 p.m. The Grays River ambulance aided a Deep River resident complaining of back pain. 7:11 p.m. A caller reported two deer on the side of Elochoman Valley Road. One was deceased and the other had a broken leg. 10:04 p.m. A caller reported that a neighbor on East Sunny Sands was still burning after dark. After a couple tries, dispatch was able to contact the homeowner who agreed to go and check on the fire, which she thought was already out.

July 9 — 5:47 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Deep River resident. 7:39 a.m. A caller reported a cow in a ditch along SR 4 in the Alger Creek area. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the cow. 7:41 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Puget Island resident. 4:32 p.m. A caller was concerned about two young kayakers who had been gone for three hours in an inflatable kayak. At 5:01 p.m., the caller confirmed that they had returned. 9:54 p.m. A caller reported that someone was setting off fireworks in the 200 block of Elochoman Valley Road.

July 10 — 6:53 p.m. A Rosedale resident complained about a helicopter that had been hovering over his home and in the area every morning and evening for the last 3-4 days. 7:30 p.m. A driver struck a deer, causing his radiator to blow. His vehicle was partially blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 just west of County Line Park. 10:10 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported an unknown vehicle parked in his driveway with the lights on.
