Kathy Briggs of Cathlamet was recently appointed to the Advisory Council of the Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities of Southwest Washington (AAADSW), representing Wahkiakum County. Ms. Briggs has experience working with CASA of Cowlitz County as a volunteer child advocate. She holds the position of treasurer with the Cathlamet Woman’s Club and has assisted librarians and patrons at the Cathlamet Library.
The Area Agency on Aging & Disabilities of Southwest Washington is a State-appointed public agency whose mission is to promote independence, choice, well-being, and dignity for persons aged 60 and over, adults with disabilities, and their families through a comprehensive, coordinated system of home and community-based services. The Agency’s Advisory Council is made up of six members from Clark County and three members from each of the other four counties it serves.
Ms. Briggs plans to educate herself as well as her community about the benefits and services available to older adults and people with disabilities. “I will voice the concerns and challenges facing these populations,” she said, “and I will facilitate getting services to those they are intended for.”
