Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

September 25 — 10:24 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. She said she didn’t know why her phone kept dialing 911. It had happened earlier that day as well. She said there was no emergency either time. A deputy went to her home in the Elochoman Valley. She said she was well, and would not let him enter the home.

September 26 — 9:47 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that a boat had been stolen. A deputy spoke with two parties involved, as well as their attorneys, and was awaiting a copy of a sale agreement and email correspondence about moving the vessel. 12:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a middle school student who was having a reaction to medication. The youth admitted to smoking marijuana. 12:53 p.m. A deputy responded to the middle school in Cathlamet after two juveniles shared a vape containing high levels of cannabis. They were referred to the school for disciplinary action. 2:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who had fallen. 4:45 p.m. A caller said a vulnerable person was walking towards town on Elochoman Valley Road. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the individual. 5:09 p.m. A caller said a possibly disabled vehicle was parked partially in the westbound lane of SR 4 near Flandersville. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the vehicle. 7:57 p.m. A possible chimney fire was reported at a Cathlamet home. At 8:05 p.m., the resident said he believed he may have extinguished the fire. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded and a chimney fire was confirmed and out. Two firefighters climbed on the roof to cool the area down and the fire was considered fully extinguished at 9:30 p.m.

September 27 — 10:57 a.m. A caller reported a suicidal youth at the elementary school in Cathlamet. A deputy spoke to a parent. 11:34 a.m. A caller reported a burglary after finding a back door open at a Puget Island address. A deputy cleared the residence. 11:56 a.m. A water outage was reported in Rosburg. The PUD was notified. 12:08 p.m. A caller reported that a woman looked dazed following a two car accident on SR 4 in the Rosedale area. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. The person refused transport to the hospital. 5:30 p.m. A caller reported that a trailer had come off a tractor and was blocking the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Skamokawa area.

September 28 — 9:34 a.m. A welfare check was requested for two juveniles who didn’t return home from school the day before and were not in school that day. 9:45 a.m. A caller reported a dead elk in a ditch along Elochoman Valley Road. 10:06 a.m. A Skamokawa resident reported an abandoned vehicle on his property. 10:10 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance provided a lift assist for a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 12:05 p.m. A Cathlamet resident reported that two juveniles from the high school were trespassing on his property despite the no trespassing and private property signs posted. A deputy asked the high school principal to make an announcement that students should avoid private property during lunch. The caller’s wife said that the father of one of the juveniles had come to the home and was outside with the caller. Deputies were asked to follow up at 8:35 p.m. 12:32 p.m. Dispatch received a 911 call with no one on the line. When the number was called back, it went straight to voicemail. The individual later called the sheriff’s office to say his phone had gotten pinned underfoot and that all was well. 1:56 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing an explosion coming from the east. 2:33 p.m. A caller reported a domestic disturbance at an east county home after his spouse called, upset, to tell him that she had been threatened by a family member. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. 5:30 p.m. A welfare check was requested for residents in a Grays River home. The caller said he could not reach them and that there was a smell coming from the home. A deputy and state patrol entered the residence and checked all the rooms and a crawl space under the house. They found no sign of criminal activity. A neighbor said that he hadn’t seen the resident for over a year, but said his son visited the home at random hours during the night. 10:45 p.m. A caller said that a motorcycle gang was after an informant.

September 29 — 9:22 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a suspicious person had been seen on his Ring camera claiming that his car had broken down at his driveway. He called again when he got home and realized that he knew the man who was out of gas. He provided the man with gas and got him back on the road. 6:55 p.m. A Grays River resident reported that he was being harassed by two men at his home. He said a sedan was parked at strange hours at the bottom of his driveway.

September 30 — 8:24 a.m. A caller reported a suspicious truck parked in the middle of Elochoman Valley Road. He said the vehicle followed him and then disappeared. 9:10 a.m. A fire alarm was activated at a Puget Island home. The Puget Island Fire Department responded. 9:42 a.m. A Rosburg resident reported that a neighbor’s dogs were coming into her yard. 11:17 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 3:08 p.m. Two vehicles were seen driving aggressively and passing each other multiple times between Skamokawa and Cathlamet. 3:55 p.m. Assistance was requested after a driver was locked out of his vehicle. 9:46 p.m. A caller reported seeing flashlights moving around a neighbor’s home while he was out of town. A deputy responded. It turned out to be the cat sitter. 10:40 p.m. A caller reported a possible drunk driver that had been traveling in the wrong lane for a mile and almost hit the guard rail in the Grays River area.

October 1 — 4:14 a.m. A Middle Valley resident reported a suspicious vehicle prowling around the area. The driver took off very fast when he saw the caller and didn’t stop at the nearby stop sign. 4:43 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a West Valley resident who was complaining of pain. 7:37 a.m. A caller reported a burglary at a Rosedale business. 9:21 a.m. A Deep River resident reported that a group of pigs came on to her property and ruined her garden. The owners were contacted. The pigs had returned home. 2:18 p.m. An individual was taken into custody at an East Sunny Sands home after a warrant was served. 5:04 p.m. Skamokawa emergency personnel responded to an East Valley home to aid an individual suffering from heat exhaustion. 6:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who was lethargic and confused, possibly related to diabetes.

October 2 — 8:55 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an East Valley resident who was having trouble breathing. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded and LifeFlight transported the individual to the hospital. 3:49 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing West Valley resident. 6:46 p.m. A caller reported that a young couple came to her door asking for gas and that they had been sitting near the county shop for the last hour.
