Sincerity is not a test of truth

To The Eagle:

Our few weeks’ respite of JB Bouchard’s rantings ended last week with his typical attack on Republicans. He continues to position himself and Democrats as exclusive to valuing facts, reason and decency.

Here are some facts that Mr Bouchard consistently omits. Inflation was 1.4% when President Biden took office, it was 7.9% in February, 2022.

That was before Putin invaded Ukraine. It’s running 8.2% currently. The vast majority of inflation happened due to Biden policies, not Putin. The math ie “facts” are that the 6.5% inflation increase was before Putin. The .3% inflation subsequently is attributable to Putin’s price hike. Those are the facts!

According to the Wall Street Journal 9.37 million jobs were lost in 2020 due to the economy shut down. While President Biden crows he has created 10 million jobs. They are merely a restoration of jobs lost from the shutdown. It was the opening up of our economy, not specific policies of the administration. Mr Biden and Mr Bouchard are like Johnny being excited about his math grade going from 30% to 60%. Johnny claims I doubled my score! Yeah but it’s still a D.

I have high hopes that most Amercians will see through this game of charades being played by President Biden et al. The recent NBC/ WSJ poll has 19% of the respondents saying our country is on the right track, clearly Mr Bouchard’s crowd. The wrong track responders were 72%.

To call, as Mr. Bouchard has, people like me Nazis, distortionists, racists, uncompassionate parents, fascists, book burners, anti-democratic and existential threats, shows a significant lack of cogent thought. You know something is “really serious” when a progressive uses the word “existential.”

Mr Bouchard, we have a difference of life experiences and a difference of opinion. I don’t doubt the sincerity of your views. Sincerity is not a test of truth. One can be sincere but at the same time be sincerely wrong. I would only hope that the progressive left at some point develops the tolerance for conservative views that they so ardently express the mandate of tolerance for people accepting their orthodoxy.
