Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

October 30 — 10:37 p.m. A caller in Rosburg reported that the horn on his vehicle kept going off and he couldn’t get it to stop.

October 31 — 2:45 a.m. Callers reported a power outage in the Skamokawa and Elochoman Valley areas, including portions of East Valley Road and Middle Valley Road, Risk Road, Longtain Road, and Nelson Creek Road. The PUD responded. 6:23 a.m. An alarm was activated at a Cathlamet home. A deputy and state patrol responded. 9:24 a.m. An East Valley resident reported that the neighbors were trespassing with a water pump and hose to use water. A deputy spoke with the caller and learned that the property line where the trespass occurred was in civil litigation. 9:37 a.m. A domestic disturbance was reported at a Rosedale home. A deputy and state patrol responded. 1:58 p.m. A possible felon was believed to be in possession of a firearm at a home on East Valley Road. A warrant service was scheduled for the following day. 2:53 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing resident on Greenwood Road. 3:05 p.m. A vehicle parked on a Cathlamet street was believed to be abandoned. A deputy determined that the registered owner lived in the area. 4:11 p.m. A caller was suspicious of a woman in a vehicle in the area of Beaver Creek and Hodgson Roads. When he questioned her, she told him she did property inspections. He thought she was related to some post he had seen on Facebook, but he could not provide specific information to the deputy on where or when he had seen it. No law enforcement action was taken. 11:08 p.m. A caller reported an unattended fire in the 600 block of Elochoman Valley Road. A deputy responded and reported that the fire was contained, the owner was on site, and had a permit.

November 1 — 6:15 a.m. A warrant was served at a home on East Valley Road. A firearm was found and an individual was taken into custody. 6:45 a.m. A caller reported two boulders the size of tires on SR 4 in Cowlitz County. The Washington State Department of Transportation was notified. 7:05 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an Elochoman Valley resident who broke his nose during a seizure. 11:02 a.m. A Puget Island resident reported that a person was upset and suicidal. Her location was unknown as she left the home in a vehicle. Deputies responded and tried to contact the woman by phone. She answered and told them to stop calling. Deputies patrolled different areas in the county. Someone who knew her was able to make contact at 11:57 a.m. At 12:03 p.m., it was reported that she was making verbal threats. At 12:04 p.m., the Cathlamet ambulance was requested. 11:36 a.m. A resident on East Valley Road reported that a vehicle was parked in front of his mailbox, partially blocking his driveway and the road. At 4:28 p.m., he called to say the vehicle was still there. The registered owner was contacted and a tow was called. 12:57 p.m. A caller reported a loose boat on the Cathlamet Channel of the Columbia River near Nassa Point. A deputy responded but was unable to locate the vessel. 2:40 p.m. A caller said the crosswalk button on SR 4 near a Rosedale business had been struck and now the wires were sticking out. WSDOT was notified. 3:08 p.m. A wallet containing $1,000 as well as personal cards and ID was found. 3:27 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was found unconscious on the floor. 3:51 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident reported that a high school student had showed up at her home and then left out the back door. She said she was unable to contact either of his parents. A deputy spoke with the youth and notified the caller that everything was okay. 4:01 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious man with a large bag in a ditch in the 100 block of Elochoman Valley Road. The caller said he saw the man go in and out of traffic. Deputies and state patrol responded. The man was picking up trash. 6:55 p.m. A parent in an Elochoman Valley home asked for assistance after her son left the house on foot. He cussed at her and said he didn’t have to listen to her. The stepfather threatened to hit the kids. Weapons were reported to be in a safe in the shop. 6:58 p.m. A caller reported that her teenage daughter was being harassed by a neighbor in the Rosedale area. She said the neighbor chased her daughter around the yard and that her daughter was now hiding in their trailer. A deputy spoke with the youth who said there were no weapons involved, that she was safe and that her windows and doors were locked. The deputy told her to call back if anything changed. After the deputy spoke with both parties, he learned that the dispute started because someone was feeding cats.

November 2 — 3:38 a.m. A caller on East Valley Road reported that a power pole looked like it was catching on fire. He said he could see sparks and a bright glowing spot by the wires. The Skamokawa Fire Department responded. The PUD said they would check it out in the morning. 1:14 p.m. A caller reported a traffic accident involving a car and a boat on SR 4 in the Deep River area. Injuries were reported. A deputy, the Grays River Fire Department, the Grays River ambulance, and state patrol responded. 1:31 p.m. A power outage related to the accident in the Deep River area was reported. The PUD was notified. 4:34 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a possible break in after a neighbor told her that a vehicle was at her residence around midnight. Tools and other items were taken from the garage. 7:34 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident said there was a man in his house asking for assistance. When a deputy responded, the resident asked to have the man trespassed. The man was taken to his own home.

November 3 — 8:04 a.m. The sheriff’s department was notified that there would be an emergency power outage on East Valley Road from the intersection of Middle Valley Road to the end of the road. 8:17 a.m. A caller reported that two students were fighting at Wahkiakum High School. 9:17 a.m. A Grays River resident complained about a neighbor’s cows coming onto her property. A deputy responded and ran the cows off. 10:13 a.m. A jump start was requested for a car parked on Main Street in Cathlamet. 11:32 a.m. A caller asked for assistance after locking keys in a running car. 11:53 a.m. A caller reported that a student at a Cathlamet school was angry and throwing things. The youth left in a car and was located by a deputy at a home on Puget Island. 12:51 p.m. A welfare check was requested for a Cathlamet resident who had not been seen in two weeks. A deputy spoke to the individual’s son, who said the person was on a trip and was expected to return in December. The individual was known to travel for long periods of time. 1:21 p.m. Risk Management from Bank of Pacific asked to have a person trespassed from the Cathlamet branch.

November 4 — 8:22 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was in a lot of pain and had blood in his urine. 8:52 a.m. Water was reported over several roadways in the county, including Eden Valley Road, Covered Bridge Road, Deep River Road, Wainamo Road, Loop Road, Altoona/Pillar Rock Road, East Valley Road, Hull Creek Road, and Barr Road. A caller said that East Valley Road was washed out at milepost 5. Trees were down on Hodgson Road and Beaver Creek Road and a boulder was reported on SR 4 near milepost 42. 11:28 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down on Oneida Road, blocking one lane. 11:52 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and the District 4 Fire Department provided a lift assist to a Rosedale resident who slid out of his chair. 1:07 p.m. A tree had fallen and was blocking Middle Valley Road. 2:12 p.m. Several power outages were reported on West Valley Road and East Valley Road. A caller reported that a tree was down east of County Line Park. Another caller said a power line was down on East Valley Road. The PUD and state patrol were notified. 3:05 p.m. A caller said three boats ran aground at Vista Park. 4:56 p.m. A caller said it smelled like something was burning in a Cathlamet apartment. The Cathlamet Fire Department responded. 7:30 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who had covid-19 and was complaining of chest pressure and a bloody nose. 10:21 p.m. Two small trees were down and blocking the eastbound lane of SR 4 in the Flandersville area. 11:02 p.m. A caller reported a downed power line in the Naselle area. State patrol and Pacific County were notified. 11:04 p.m. A resident on West Valley Road reported a power outage. The PUD was notified. 11:07 p.m. A caller reported that power lines were in the eastbound lane of SR 4 in Naselle. Pacific County Dispatch was notified. 11:16 p.m. A caller reported that a large tree was down and blocking the eastbound lane of SR 4 near West Valley Road. The caller said they would cut it to get the tree cleared but a plow would be needed to get the debris off the road. 11:17 p.m. A power outage was reported at an east county residence.

November 5 — 12 a.m. A caller reported that a tree was down and shattered on SR 4 just east of Flandersville. 12:04 a.m. A caller reported that a woman was in a white van near Nassa Point waiting for AAA. 1:22 a.m. A caller reported high water on SR 4 in Grays River. 5:23 a.m. A resident on East Valley Road said that everyone had power on but him. The PUD responded and restored his power. 7:33 a.m. A caller reported a low hanging power line over his driveway west of Skamokawa. The PUD reported that it was a phone line not a power line. 9:01 a.m. A power outage was reported at a Rosburg home. The PUD was notified. 10:19 a.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a running vehicle. 11:02 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 12:01 p.m. A caller reported that a sinkhole was developing on Beaver Creek Road. 12:26 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who injured an ankle in a fall. 12:50 p.m. A caller said a tree was down and blocking a driveway on Miller Point Road. The caller was able to clear branches but not the trunk. The county road department was notified. They advised that the tree was on a private drive and not on a county road. 1:03 p.m. Child abuse was reported at a Cathlamet residence. 3:01 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident who was having difficulty breathing. 3:17 p.m. A caller reported that someone with hunting weapons was trespassing on a Beaver Creek property. 4:39 p.m. A caller said that someone was parked in a County Line Park camping parking spot. He said he told her she needed to pay or leave and she started screaming at him. 6:17 p.m. A caller said that WSDOT had put down cones in the eastbound lane of SR 4 after a tree came down near Ingalls Road, but there was no signage for drivers in the westbound lane alerting them that eastbound vehicles would be in their lane. 8:01 p.m. A caller said a small silver sedan with Oregon plates was pulling into every driveway on Greenwood Road. The vehicle crashed into a ditch and took off after state patrol tried to make contact and then parked near a deputy’s patrol car.

November 6 — 8:57 a.m. Power outages were reported on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road. 9:41 a.m. A caller reported finding a parachute in the middle of a logging road in the West Valley area. 10:41 a.m. A Little Island resident reported that there were 15 head of cattle running around his property. The owner was contacted. 1:05 p.m. A caller said that several customers told her that a person was behaving strangely on SR 4 near Jacobson Road. 1:09 p.m. A caller reported a van with a smashed front window headed down Columbia Street to Main Street in Cathlamet. She said there were three males and a female in the vehicle and that the woman had been crying when they were in a Rosedale business. She saw another man get in the vehicle on Columbia Street. 1:48 p.m. A caller reported that their power had been out at their home on Altoona/Pillar Rock Road since 10 a.m. The PUD was notified. 5:03 p.m. A caller said he was being followed by two vehicles. He was advised to drive directly to the courthouse. The subjects followed him to Main Street. A deputy spoke with the caller. 5:21 p.m. A caller asked for assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 5:35 p.m. A caller reported finding a child’s shoe near the life jacket post at Hornstra Beach. 5:46 a.m. A caller said that her son and her father had been struck by a drunk driver. He told them that his vehicle information was at his camper at the marina. He took them to the storage units but could not provide any information, offering a boat title instead. 8:47 p.m. A Puget Island resident said that someone pulled into his driveway and started cussing. He later said that his neighbors spotlighted him when they drove into his driveway. He screamed at dispatch before hanging up. A deputy said he had spoken to both parties earlier and would talk to them by phone. The Puget Island resident called back and said that someone was throwing rocks at his house and screaming.
