Cathlamet writer's open mic set for December 20

Writers of all genres are invited to celebrate the holidays in literary style Tuesday, Dec. 20 at RiverMile 38, located at 285 Third Street, Cathlamet. Bring your original work, or a favorite piece by another writer. Poetry and prose readings are limited to under seven minutes.

Readers may sign up at 5:30 p.m., at the bar. The open mic ends at about 7:00 p.m. Refreshments may be purchased at RiverMile 38, and food may be brought in from outside. This open mic, sponsored by The Writer’s Guild of Astoria, is free and open to the public.

The Writer’s Guild is a 501©(3) nonprofit formed by a group of writers committed to strengthening the community through the power of the written word. The Guild holds workshops, retreats, author events and hosts writing groups in Astoria and the Lower Columbia region. The Guild promotes literacy in area schools and with at-risk populations through residency and workshop programming. A literate community is a thriving community.
