Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

December 12 — 12:52 a.m. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having difficulty breathing. 6:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who was having a heart attack. 7:49 a.m. A welfare check was requested for two people in a Puget Island home. 10:54 a.m. An Alger Creek resident running a page on Facebook said she was receiving death threats online. A deputy contacted the individual; she said the subjects were from Moldova. There was no evidence of local criminal activity. She agreed to forward any additional information. 5:43 p.m. A caller saw two people dressed in camouflage and carrying flashlights, walking along SR 4 by the refuge. 8:34 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 8:44 a.m. A caller reported suspicious activity at an east county residence. A deputy responded and cleared the home. 9:44 p.m. A caller reported suspicious activity in a truck parked at the marina. 11:04 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported hearing a loud boom followed by a power outage. Several more Puget Island residents called to report a power outage. The Cathlamet Fire Department, a deputy and the PUD responded. Power was restored by 12:34 a.m.

December 13 — 12:59 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Beaver Creek resident. 4:41 a.m. A caller reported a speeding vehicle on a Deep River road. 1:57 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an Alger Creek resident. 4:34 p.m. A caller believed a neighbor on Puget Island was burning household trash. Someone from the Cathlamet Fire Department responded and determined that it was a recreational burn.

December 14 — 1:28 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who was having trouble breathing and nearly passed out. 8:29 a.m. Eight sheep were found on SR 409. The caller said he was able to get them back in the field but there was no answer when he knocked at the homeowner’s door. 9:08 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Cathlamet resident. 2:28 p.m. A caller needed assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 5:48 p.m. A Cathlamet apartment dweller complained about someone upstairs who had been working and pounding on things since 7 a.m.

December 15 — 2:11 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a middle school student who was hit in the head with a rake. 4:36 p.m. A resident on North Welcome Slough Road reported a burglary after returning home and discovering a couch and several boxes of items were missing. 8:27 p.m. A resident on West Valley Road reported that someone was trespassing and would not give his keys back to him.

December 16 — 11:50 a.m. Multiple alarms were activated at a home on Welcome Slough Road. A responsible party was contacted and said that no one should be at the home. He then reported that cameras showed a man and woman inside his residence. Deputies responded and two people were taken into custody. The vehicle the pair arrived in turned out to be stolen from Multnomah County. A deputy said that the pair had attempted to enter a neighboring home. A stolen firearm was found. 1:01 p.m. A welfare check was requested for an Elochoman Valley resident. A deputy was able to contact family members who said that the resident was fine. 2:23 p.m. A mental health representative responded to a Rosedale home. A deputy and the Cathlamet ambulance were requested and an individual was transported to the hospital. 2:57 p.m. Use of the emergency warming center was requested. 3:02 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an individual who fainted at the Wahkiakum County Courthouse, possibly because of an overdose. A deputy responded. 3:08 p.m. A hedge trimmer was found in the Skamokawa area.

December 17 — 5:36 a.m. A caller said the ferry would be down for a few hours. 10:40 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Puget Island resident after a caller said he was not acting normal. 12:39 p.m. Two cows were found along the side of SR 4 at the eastern base of KM. A potential owner was contacted. 2:57 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded when a caller said a woman was choking at a Cathlamet address. 4:21 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported a burglary. 7:37 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 7:52 p.m. The Grays River ambulance and the Grays River Fire Department responded when a vehicle was involved in a rollover accident on SR 4 in the Grays River area. 8:39 p.m. A caller reported seeing a flashing white light in the Skamokawa area and was concerned it was a signal for help.

December 18 — 6:04 a.m. Several Beaver Creek residents reported a power outage. The PUD responded and power was restored at 7:36 a.m. 1:55 p.m. A caller requested assistance after getting locked out of a vehicle. 2:33 p.m. A tree was down east of County Line Park. State patrol was notified. 5:33 p.m. An Elochoman Valley resident complained about a neighbor’s barking dog. 7:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Cathlamet resident who lost consciousness.
