Mule wrestler Lilian Hale places at state meet

Mule Wrestler Lilian Hale is the first girl to place at the state wrestling tournament in Wahkiakum High School history, according to Coach Ross Lofstrom.

Hale, a junior, took sixth place at 155 at the Mat Classic in the Tacoma Dome over the weekend.

Another wrestler, Malachi Schaefer, finished the season just shy of placing.

"I'm so proud of them and all my wrestlers this year," Lofstrom said.

It's the final season for McKenna Mendez and Schaefer, who are seniors. Mendez plans to attend Central Washington University to study EMS paramedicine, and Schaefer plans to become a river pilot one day.
