Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the past week, including:

March 6 — 6:32 a.m. A Cathlamet resident asked to speak to someone regarding issues she was having with a roommate. A deputy called a caseworker and left a message about the complaints. 10:41 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said she was receiving harassing phone calls from an ex-boyfriend, an ongoing issue. 11:53 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said he was informed by a third party that his estranged wife put out an advertisement welcoming people to come to his residence and take items belonging to him. 2:46 p.m. There was a report of child abuse at an east county home. 8:45 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance and a deputy aided a Puget Island resident who was having difficulty breathing and possible tonsil problems. 11:19 p.m. A resident on East Valley Road said there was a cow down on a neighboring property and believing it might be caused by a coyote suggested the neighbors might want to check on their cattle. A message was left for the neighbor.

March 7 — 8:30 a.m. An east county resident alleged that his ex-wife gave at least one of their minor children marijuana in vape form and Fireball whiskey on three separate occasions. 8:42 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a clinic patient who had fallen during a seizure two days earlier. 12:03 p.m. A Little Island resident said someone broke into the house during the night and got into his financial documents. He called back later to say he was the one to move the documents and no longer wanted an officer to respond. 6:41 p.m. Emergency personnel in Skamokawa responded to a home in Skamokawa to aid someone who was bleeding from a mass on her side. 7:12 p.m. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle behind the fire hall in Skamokawa. 9:06 p.m. A caller reported a speeding westbound vehicle on SR 4 near County Line Park.

March 8 — 9:52 a.m. A Puget Island resident was a victim of identity theft. 2:05 p.m. A license plate, possibly for a boat trailer, was found at the Elochoman Slough Marina. 2:11 p.m. Emergency personnel responded to an Elochoman Valley home to aid a resident with cellulitis. 2:44 p.m. A caller reported that an unknown person was on city property at the intersection of Division Street and Butler Street cutting vegetation near the creek. 3:02 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a report from Adult Protective Services for an individual in Grays River. The individual was later reported to be deceased. 3:44 p.m. The sheriff’s department received a report from Adult Protective Services for an individual in a Rosedale home. 5:56 p.m. A caller reported seeing a pink canoe with a five gallon bucket of water in it headed downriver from Vista Park. The U.S. Coast Guard was advised. 6:46 p.m. A caller reported two rock slides in the westbound lane of SR 4 in the Grays River area. 7:12 p.m. A welfare check was requested for children in a West Valley home. Deputies responded.

March 9 - 1:33 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing resident on Greenwood Road. 6:11 a.m. A medical alarm was activated at an Alger Creek home. The call for the Cathlamet ambulance was canceled when family arrived. 7:56 a.m. Deputies responded to a disturbance at a West Valley home. 6:59 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Skamokawa resident who had been vomiting all day. 8:52 p.m. A caller reported a deceased deer on a Puget Island property. The deer had been struck by a vehicle. A voicemail was left for the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife.

March 10 — 3:41 a.m. Dispatch received a 911 call with no one on the line. The number was called but there was no response. It was believed to be an ongoing issue with the number. 10:24 p.m. A certified letter requesting the removal of squatters from a Rosburg residence was received. 10:44 a.m. A sexual assault was reported at a Cathlamet home. 11:57 a.m. A Cathlamet resident said that a neighbor was harassing him. 12:47 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided an ailing Rosedale resident. 1:15 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance aided a Rosedale resident who had fallen. 4:36 p.m. A caller said that someone was stealing cans out of the recycling bins on Puget Island. 6:01 p.m. A caller said that someone caused damage at a Deep River church and also broke in and stole construction materials. 8:56 p.m. A person called the sheriff’s department to notify them he would be hunting coyote on Puget Island.

March 11 — 4:45 a.m. A caller said multiple dogs had been barking at a nearby Elochoman Valley property since 4 a.m. It was an ongoing problem. A deputy saw several dogs out and heard them barking. 8:10 a.m. The Grays River ambulance aided an ailing Deep River resident. 12:33 p.m. A Rosedale resident reported that unknown vehicles were parked in front of his home intermittently. 5:18 p.m. Power outages were reported in the Skamokawa area after a large tree fell across power lines. The PUD and the county road department were notified. 7:29 p.m. A caller accidentally dialed 911. He said he was in Westport, but further investigation revealed he was on West Sunny Sands, violating two protection orders. Deputies were notified. 8:44 p.m. A caller said that her daughter was at their Elochoman Valley home alone then their dogs started to bark aggressively. Two people were seen standing in front of their mailboxes with flashlights. When the barking started, they were seen to turn off their flashlights for a few minutes. They turned them back on before walking north on Elochoman Valley Road. 10:03 p.m. A Puget Island resident said two teenagers came to her door between 4-5 p.m. asking for money.

March 12 — 11:12 a.m. An RV in the Rosedale area caught fire. Deputies, the District 4 Fire Department, and the Cathlamet ambulance responded. The vehicle was unoccupied and there were bystanders on scene with hoses. 12:47 a.m. Two dogs belonging to an Elochoman Valley resident were seen running loose in the Elochoman Valley area. 2:01 p.m. A caller said that multiple items were missing from an Alger Creek barn. 6 p.m. Elochoman Valley residents wanted to return a couple dogs they found to their owner but didn’t have contact information. Dispatch made contact with the owner.
