Mule Golf

Last Wednesday, Wahkiakum High School’s golf team matched up against Ilwaco and Mary M. Knight’s boys and girls at Skyline Golf Course in Cathlamet.

Sebastian Britt was the medalist of that round with a 39, followed by Brodie Avalon, who shot a 42. Kyler Sause had a score of 50, while Isaiah Pena finished with 66 and Harley Popp shot a 68.

Overall the Mule boys had the lowest team score of 197, followed by Ilwaco with 222, and Mary M. Knight who had too few players to qualify for a team score.

The Wahkiakum girls were lead by Brianna Cothren, an eighth grader who shot a 54 and Jessie Lefever who in her first year playing golf shot a 65. The Ilwaco girls were led by medalist Zoey Zuern who shot a 53.

On Monday, the golf team had a rematch against Ilwaco at Skyline Golf Course. The Mule boys were led by Sause, who medaled with a 42. Avalon shot a 44, Britt finished with a score of 45, Pena shot a 61 and Popp had a 62. The boys combined for a season low team score of 192. The Ilwaco boys finished with a team score of 229.

This time Lefever, in her second career match, led the Mule girls with a 60, shaving off five strokes from her previous round. Cothren finished with a 62. The Ilwaco girls were led by returning and repeating medalist Zoey Zuern who shot a 52.

The Mules will host again on Wednesday, April 12, at Skyline Golf Course following spring break.
