Robert Murray Wegdahl

August 26, 1944 – May 15, 2023

Robert Murray (Bob) Wegdahl, 78, was born August 26, 1944 in Cathlamet, WA at the Cathlamet Birthing House just three blocks from where he passed away at home on May 15, 2023.

Bob was born to his mother, Leona Maye (Olson). Fathers included John (Maye) Ostervold, Robert (Mabel) Wegdahl, Sr., Howard (Joyce) Magnuson. All parents preceded Bob in death.

Bob graduated from Wahkiakum High School in 1962 and was a proud member of the Wahkiakum Basketball team that took 4th place in the 1961 Washington State B Tournament in Spokane.

Following graduation Bob worked driving log truck as his occupation. He was well known for his strong dedication to safe driving and keeping his log truck spotless. He formed countless friendships throughout years working with fellow loggers.

Bob was a lifelong outdoorsman. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, clam digging, camping, gambling and any activity with family and friends. Bob was the number one fan to anything his grandchildren participated in. He was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart, a wonderful sense of humor and the most contagious laugh. He was generous, loyal and brave.

Bob married Carol (Oxford) on November 6, 1965 in Longview, WA. They have resided 58 years in the same home where they raised their two children.

After retirement Bob spent most days working in his yard and keeping his vehicles in top notch condition.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Carol, his children, Michael (Stacey) Wegdahl and Caren (Frank) Chandler. He will be missed by his grandchildren, Travis (Miranda) Wegdahl, Tori Wegdahl, Nayte (Samantha) Chandler and Brooke Chandler. Also missing Bob will be his faithful spoiled dog, Annie.

He is also survived by his siblings, Marnee (Todd) Davis, Martin (Linda) Ostervold, Danny (Ellen) Graham, Rochne (Miria) Wegdahl, Donald Magnuson, Doug (Sharon) Magnuson, Debbie (Mark) Agee and Dee (Bruce) Wirkkala, sister-in-law, Connie Dexter, brothers-in-law, Carey Oxford and Curt Oxford, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Bob on Sunday, June 11th at 3:00 p.m., at The Duck Inn. The family invites all to join in wearing Bob's favorite color, camouflage. Arrangements directed by Dowling Funeral Home.
