Computer Link Northwest hosted a community computing workshop last Thursday at the Appelo Annex at Vista Park in Skamokawa from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Steve Carson, Ed Lane, and Julia Wadlow gave out computers and laptops to people who qualified through a Digital Navigator grant, offered instruction to visitors, and helped anyone who stopped in with a technical issue.
"I am grateful they are offering this for free," Patricia Godwin said. Godwin had stopped in for some instruction.
Visitors could visit with representatives from the Cathlamet Library to talk about access to online training through LinkedIn Learning, Northstar, and the Washington Anytime Library. Nicole Fritzie was there from Wahkiakum West to talk about low income programs that help pay for internet and phone. Also on hand were Julie Dalen and Suzanne Mackey from Wahkiakum Health and Human Services. Dalen is a therapist who specializes in child mental health, and Mackey is the community resource coordinator for the Employ Wahkiakum program, which helps local residents find employment.
