May 30, 1943 – September 1, 2023
Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother.
Joyce is survived by Charles Vern Smith, her loving husband of 62 years. Her daughter Shannon Marie Smith and son-in-law David Smith. Granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Smith, Grandson Alan David Vernon Smith. Sister Mary Jean and husband David Gilday; Brother Michael and sister-in-law Christy Hurley; Brother Joseph and sister-in-law Hannah Hurley; Many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Joyce were her parents: Lawrence Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Hurley, Her daughter Deborah Lynn Swanson and son-in-law Kurt Swanson.
Joyce lived her life as a living example of love, as a verb! Everyone was loved and valued, welcomed by her open arms of caring and hospitality throughout her life. Joyce was gracious and kind. She will be missed dearly.
A brief graveside commital will be held on Thursday September 7th at 10 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday September 9th at 2 p.m. at River of Life Church, Cathlamet, Washington.
The family requests that any donations in lieu of flowers can be made to River of Life Church in Cathlamet, Washington or Faith Family Christian in Longview, Washington.
Dowling Funeral Home of Cathlamet is in charge of arrangements.
