The Wahkiakum Mules boys basketball team is taking the long road to the State 2B tournament after a 53-43 loss to Toledo last Wednesday night in the first round of the District 4 tournament sent them to the loser's bracket.

"Wednesday night we just didn't play team ball, it's as simple as that," Coach Rob Garrett said.

"We play as a team and we win that game for sure. We got comfortable and cocky, and Toledo outworked us. Wasn't the night we wanted but it's what we got and now it's time to attack the path in front of us."

Zakk Carlson led the Mules with 16 points and nine rebounds. Parker Leitz added 14 points, six rebounds, and five steals. Jacob Johnson scored six points and had four assists. Kyler Sause had five points. Cooper Carlson had two points, Nathan Garrett had two points. Grant Wilson had five rebounds.

"Tonight we had much better ball movement and that got us rolling from outside," Coach Garrett said. "Our defense and offensive rebounds still need a big step up but we will take the win and keep the season rolling."

Jacob Johnson had seven points, seven assists, four rebounds, and four steals. Jayden Stoddard scored six points. Parker Leitz had six points and four rebounds. Grant Wilson had one point.
