Dollars for Scholars, bingo at Norse Hall

VERY BRIEF. Due to technical difficulties, this column will be extremely short this week and I will try to do do a lot more "yakking" next week. I do hope you have all come through the buckets of rain and blustery wind storm that we have had to deal with this past Sunday and Monday. We had three inches of rain out here in West Valley, (so far) so it was not nice.

SPECIAL DAYS. Those celebrating birthdays this coming week from June 6 thru 12 are: Brenden McClain, Justin Elfers, Elijah Doiron, Matalyn Longtain, Peyton Souvenir, Paige Ferguson, Nicholas Danker, Ryan Helms, Tanner Hoven, Bentley Olson, Sharon LaBerge, Nicholas Danker, Johnnie Peyrollaz, Alec Christiansen, Mark Howie, Colton Reynolds, Andrea Hess and Michaela Sechler. May you all have a wonderful time on your special day.

COMING UP. If you're reading this early enough on Thursday, be sure to come on down to the Community Breakfast at the Skamokawa Grange from 10 a.m. to Noon and share a cup of coffee and a meal with some of your neighbors. Remember that on Fridays, there is a Street Market in Cathlamet down at the Elochoman Slough Marina from 3:30- 6:30 p.m., with many vendors. On Saturday, June 8, there will be a Flea Market down here at the fairgrounds in Skamokawa from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. and you could even stop by the historic Central School/River Life Interpretive Center and check out the Book/Gift Shop while you're down here, and then that evening, there is Bingo going on over at the Norse Hall, located on Puget Island, with doors open at 5:30 p.m. on the lower level. The Sons of Norway lodge members would appreciate your support! Also, you only have one more Wednesday to donate things to the Puget Island Fire Dept. Auxiliary Group, over at the fire hall, and that's June 12 from 3 - 8 p.m. Any other arrangements could possibly be made by calling Sherill at: 360-951-3985 or Liz: 360-200-2247. Also on Wednesdays from noon to 3 p.m., the Cathlamet Senior Friendship group meets at the big white church along SR 409 down in the basement. Entry is at the back of the church from the parking lot. The Cathlamet Fire Dept. will be holding an event up at the high school on June 15 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m., where there will be a BBQ, a dunk tank and live demonstrations about fire fighting and how to hold a hose, etc. There will also be free giveaways as well. The Lions Club Berry Sale is going on but orders need to be in by June 18, so don't delay. If you haven't seen an order form around town, call: 360-355-0871.
