Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:
July 29 7:44 a.m. A caller at the Elochoman Slough marina contacted the Sheriff’s department to see if the Sheriff’s boat net could be used to retrieve a cell phone dropped in the water. 9:09 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance transported a person with abdominal issues to the hospital. 12:51 p.m. A homeowner in Skamokawa called to report an ongoing issue with their neighbors horse crossing onto their property. 1:54 p.m. A road rage incident was reported west of County Line Park. The caller reported that a motorist was tailgating and honking their horn and that the caller was afraid to go home.
July 30 8:12 a.m. A single calf was reported outside the fence on west Little Island road. 10:23 a.m. A welfare check was requested on an elderly Cathlamet resident who had not been heard from for several weeks. Sheriff’s deputies contacted family members of the person who said that the person had been in inpatient care. 6:55 p.m. A caller to dispatch said they were concerned that they were being scammed. They had received a citation from Washington state, although they had never been to Washington.
July 31 11:29 a.m. A motorist in Deep River notified dispatch of a person on SR4 riding a bike and holding a flag on their lap which extended into the lane of travel. The caller feared that the situation could be dangerous for the bicyclist and drivers. 6:22 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services assisted an elderly Puget Island resident with breathing problems.
August 1 5:38 a.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to a possible heart attack victim in Cathlamet. 11:41 a.m. A Westend caller reported that gas was leaking out of their car and was worried that it could start a fire. The Grays River fire department responded. 12:27 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to a Skamokawa resident with a history of heart problems. 2:00 p.m. An aggressive dog complaint was filed with the Sheriff’s department after a dog in Cathlamet had attacked the caller’s dog and then their car. 3:02 p.m. A Cathlamet business reported vandalism to their building. The business owner said that this had happened before. 8:37 p.m. A caller reported a vehicle pulling a trailer without lights. Sheriff’s deputies spoke with the driver, who said that they would fix the lights. 10:15 p.m. A motorist reported a truck aggressively following a car going east toward Cathlamet. The Washington State patrol was notified.
August 2 11:52 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance responded to an elderly person in Cathlamet. who was suffering from high blood pressure and was confused. 4:13 p.m. A Deep River resident reported a car speeding on Deep River road. The sheriff’s department said they would send deputies to the area. 4:38 a.m. An erratic driver was reported on Puget Island. Deputies spoke with the driver at a Puget Island address. 12:43 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported that their landlord was throwing away their property. The landlord denied throwing away property. Deputies explained to the homeowner that there is a process to follow regarding property left behind. 5:37 p.m. Cathlamet emergency services responded to an elderly person with chest pains. 6:20 p.m. A Puget Island resident requested assistance after a fall. The Cathlamet ambulance responded. 8:38 p.m. A Skamokawa homeowner reported seeing several people trespassing on their property.
August 3 1:43 p.m. A homeowner east of Cathlamet reported that utility trucks had been parked on their property for at least a week without permission. Deputies contacted the company and asked them to move their vehicles. 4:03 p.m. Cows were reported out on SR 409 on Puget Island. 7:00 p.m. An erratic driver was reported west of county line park. 10:09 p.m. A caller reported hearing shots fired from a vehicle on Risk road. The Wahkiakum County Sheriff's Office and the Washington State Patrol responded and found a coyote in the middle of the road with a possible bullet wound.
August 4 12:07 a.m. A Cathlamet resident reported a dog barking and possible animal neglect. 12:14 p.m. An Elochoman valley resident reported being chased by a neighbors dog. Sheriff’s deputies responded and let the dog owner know that the victim has a right to defend themselves if they feel threatened. 2:05 p.m. The Cathlamet ambulance picked up an elderly Puget Island resident and transported them to the hospital. 3:10 p.m. A Puget Island homeowner reported that they allowed a boater to tie up to their dock and now the person would not leave their dock. 7:02 p.m. A deceased deer was reported on Puget Island.
