Sheriff's Report

Wahkiakum County law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel handled a variety of reports during the last week, including:

January 27 11:23 a.m. A caller in Cathlamet reported seeing an erratic person talking to themselves on Elm St. 11:27 a.m. Sheriff’s deputies performed a property check after a resident on Risk Rd. received a call that their shop door was open after they knew it was closed when they left. 11:34 a.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services assisted an elderly Cathlamet resident who had fallen down. 2:46 p.m. Deputies assisted with the removal of a junk vehicle in Cathlamet. 3:49 p.m. A driver on SR-4 called for assistance after locking their keys in their vehicle. 5:44 p.m. The Grays River Ambulance responded to a call for an elderly Grays River resident who was feeling ill.

January 28 8:36 a.m. A concerned driver on SR 4 called to report an erratic car driving all over the roadway going eastbound. 10:07 a.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that a Ports-Potty had been stolen from their property. 11:57 a.m. A Grays River resident reported that someone was going around the properties in the Hull Creek Rd area, taking trees that had been cut by the city and wanted the situation monitored by the Sheriff’s Department. 12:36 p.m. Deputies responded to a theft at the Skamokawa Fairgrounds; a weedeater and two gas cans were stolen. 4:02 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that a large dog had gotten in their yard, killed chickens and ducks, and had been secured in their shed. 5:59 p.m. Sheriff’s Deputies assisted a driver in Cathlamet who had been locked out of their vehicle. 6:50 p.m. A Puget Island resident reported seeing seven drones over the island that day, two of which were still there, stationary and flashing red and green lights. 7:39 p.m. A Cathlamet resident was asking for guidance on what to do with a friend’s dog while the friend was involved in a medical incident, the caller was referred to WAAG.

January 29 6:03 a.m. The Grays River Ambulance assisted an elderly resident who felt weak and fell. 5:32 p.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that an unknown person walked into their apartment, asked for a permanent marker, and then left. 6:28 p.m. A Cathlamet business reported that a couple tried to make a purchase using counterfeit $100 bills.

January 30 12:25 p.m. Sheriff’s deputies responded to vandalism at Strong Park in Cathlamet; a trespasser tore down the fencing and left an illicit note.

January 31 11:31 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report that their mailbox had been destroyed maliciously. 12:20 p.m. Law enforcement responded to an erratic driver who backed into a county vehicle in front of the courthouse. 2:18 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that his neighbor’s dog attacked two of their chickens the previous day. 10:01 p.m. A driver on SR 4 called to report an erratic driver going at a high rate of speed near the school.

February 1 6:22 a.m. The Cathlamet Ambulance responded to help an elderly Puget Island resident. 7:44 a.m. A Cathlamet resident called to report repeated incidents of aggressive behavior with their neighbor’s multiple dogs. 9:45 a.m. A driver on Beaver Creek Rd. called to report an inch of snow on the roadway and that it needed to be plowed. 9:59 a.m. A vacant vehicle was reportedly sitting in the same place on Anchor Way Loop and Sunnyfield Dr. for two days. 3:34 p.m. A Puget Island resident called to report that two people who had been evicted were blocking the driveway, after talking the property owner agreed to give them one more week to move their belongings if they removed their vehicle from the driveway.

February 2 10:50 p.m. A Rosburg resident called Emergency Services with breathing troubles. 1:41 p.m. Cathlamet Emergency Services responded to an elderly Puget Island resident who was having leg pain.
