In 1998, Clatskanie's Allison Rice broke the school's record for the Women's Pole vault with a height of 7 feet, 6 inches. Last Wednesday during the 1A Trico League Meet at Fort Vancouver High School, Rainey Palm broke Rice's school record with an 8-foot showing and, later on her final attempt, would break her own record with a height of 8 feet, 6 inches. Also faring well for the girls was Mya Jensen, who took fourth in the Women's Discus 1Kg with a distance of 89 feet. Clatskanie's Lacey Willis took second in the Women's High Jump with a height of 4 feet, 8 inches to round out top-five finishes in the field for the girls.
On the track for the girls, Willis took second in the Women's 100M with a time of 13.83 and third place in the Women's 200M with a time of 28.29. The lone first-place finish for the girls was Natalie Baker's time of 27.55 in the Women's 200M. Baker also took second place in the Women's 400M with a time of 1:06.93 and fifth place in the Women's 100M with a time of 13.99. Mai Lowe took fourth in the Women's 1600M with a time of 6:49.65 to round out the girls in individual competition.
In team competition for the girls, the quartet of Simone Ellen, Jensen, Willis, and Baker took third in the Women's 4X100 Relay with a time of 54.68, while CaselynThompson, Paytan Ward, Ellen and Lowe took third in the Women's 4X400M Relay with a time of 4:54.91. The team of Maria Altafina, Kiere Caceres, Grace Hadley, and Ward took fourth in the Women's 4X200M Relay with a time of 2:09.18, and the quartet of Josaphine Byrne, Izzy Mustola, Angelica Todd, and Caceres took fourth in the Women's 4X400 relay with a time of 5:39.78.
For the boys on the track in individual heats, Aidan Bailey took second in the Men's 800M with a time of 2P:12.28 and fifth in the Men's 100M with a time of 12.05. In the Men's 3200M, Spain Bocanegra took second with a time of 12:16.27, and Ryder Gorley took second in the Men's 300M Hurdles with a time of 46.88.
In the field for the boys, Ayden Blackshire took fourth in the Men's Javelin 800g with a distance of 113 feet, 11 inches, and Quin May took fourth in the Men's Pole Vault with a height of 10 feet, 6 inches. Daylon Gutierrez showed off his jumping skills with a distance of 35 feet, 1.5 inches, good enough for fourth place in the Men's Triple Jump. Finally, Braydon Top took fifth in the Men's High Jump with a height of 5 feet, 6 inches. Clatskanie track and field will next compete on Thursday, April 24, at the Gervais Home Meet. The meet's first event begins at 3:30 p.m.
