With a trio of victories last Friday and Tuesday, the Clatskanie High School softball team has now won eight straight games. Four of the victories have come via the mercy-run rule. During last Friday’s 15-4 over Nestucca, the Tigers were led at the plate by sophomore Emma Parmley, who had a team-high four RBI, while senior Karielle Carlson scored a team-high three runs and, along with sophomore Olivia George, collected a team-high three hits. George and Parmley also scored two runs each in the win. Juniors Dalilah Baier, Joez Sizemore, and Kyrielle White scored two runs apiece and had a collective three hits and two RBI. The second game of the double header Friday remained scoreless through two innings. The Tigers would score three runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to take a 7-0 lead. Nestucca would answer with three in the sixth to make it 7-3, but Clatskanie piled on another four runs in the seventh to put the game safely out of reach. Junior Kayden Bynum led the team with three RBI, while Parmley had a team-high four hits and three runs scored. Junior Kennedy Johnson and White also knocked in two runs each.
The Tigers made quick work of the Vernonia Loggers 15-0 on Tuesday over three innings. Sizemore had a monster game, knocking in six runs while scoring three over two hits, both home runs. Carlson also had a home run, collecting two hits, knocking in two runs, and scoring two runs as well. Minus the home run, Parmley had stats identical to Carlson, while sophomore Peyton Krueger, Baier, and White contributed an RBI each and combined for four runs and two hits.
The Tigers (13-3) look to keep their league record (4-0) perfect when they travel to Vernonia Friday, May 2. Clatskanie will return home Tuesday, May 6, to take on Knappa at 3 p.m.
