VFW announces poppy drive

VFW (Veterans of Foreign Affairs) Wahkiakum Post 5297 is having its May Memorial Day “Buddy” Poppy drive on Saturday and Sunday, May 24 and 25. Post 5297 will have a manned booth at the Cathlamet Market (95 Main St.) from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for “Buddy” Poppy distributions and will be taking donations and handing out information about the VFW. Honor the memories of the fallen and help veterans still suffering today. Please take the time to donate to the VFW, take a Buddy Poppy, and wear it proudly. Your local veterans and community need your support.

The public is invited to a Memorial Day ceremony next Monday, May 26, 2025, at 9 a.m. at Greenwood Cemetery (131 Greenwood Road). Hosted by the VFW Wahkiakum Post #5297, the event will pay tribute to those men and women that made the ultimate sacrifice for this great country. For those that have difficulty standing, please bring a chair. The ceremony should last about 30 minutes, and there will be no refreshments.
